After 20 years as a carer to a severely disabled young person, I’m now facing barriers I’ve never faced before. Everywhere I go, the answer is “Nimbus.” No card? No carer entry. No PIP. No Blue Badge. No Carer’s Allowance accepted. That’s gatekeeping & it’s deeply worrying. 🧵

First: he’s made safeguards for people with learning disabilities **optional**. Those with “substantial difficulty” understanding or communicating can now be *asked* whether they want to waive their advocate — before they’ve even had support to understand what’s happening.

@BBCPM What’s interesting is how supermarkets one week have say Lurpak at £5 for 400g then it’s at £3.50 for a bit before it goes back to £5. Just wonder how many weeks of year it would be at £3.50 and how many at full wack.

@alison_beevers @ChangingPlaceUK @jowhite__ The service is not complete, it is still undergoing work in order to ensure it is fit for purpose and safe for the public. Once the work is complete, colleagues need training on the equipment in case of an emergency. We are all working as effectively as possible.
