I really don’t get why cycling from Levenshulme to town is so bloody difficult! There’s so many cyclists around here and NO solid route into town. I’m either adding miles on to my journey using the loop or risking my life on Stockport rd; and neither options are safe at night 😩

Just read a post saying that a really old trans pal who has been on hrt for like 10+ years has been denied it the past 6 months and I am so so so sad for him. This health system is absolutely fucked.

Active travel for #Disabled people, as for anyone else, starts with pavements. Wheeled pedestrians / white cane users / guide dog users need (+ parents with pushchairs) are being shut out of our town centres by thoughtless alfresco dining arrangements. Unacceptable! 😠👇🏻👇🏼👇🏽👇🏿

Fun fact about me: I use a ‘teenagers’ wheelchair. It’s tiny. 23inches wide. If I’m struggling to get through these “gaps”, they are completely impassable for most wheelchair users and visually impaired people with dogs. Pavements must be kept clear enough for pedestrians.

@alison_rome ...so, identify allies and turn them into advocates for mapping. With remote working, you kind of need to be a friendly and helpful dog with a bone though. Share your knowledge and the stuff in this thread with them, and help them see how the map can be helpful in their work too

@alison_rome 1 thing I learnt from doing with a team fresh to space,with a few different levels of ability/learning styles was notto rely on Miro/mural. It’s not comfortable for all &actually inaccessible for others-Google spread sheet is a good starting point(learning to love spread sheets!)
