ANTI-ICE RIOT LAST NIGHT BLOCKS EMERGENCY ROOM ENTRANCE. Brooklyn, NY: At around 2 am last night, ICE agents were taking a detainee for medical treatment to a hospital. There was no real-time information on who it was or why he needed medical care. Anti-ICE groups mobilized, claiming ICE was raiding the hospital. That claim was false. But protestors assembled quickly and blocked ICE agents from leaving, leading to mayhem and Level 1 mobilization of NYPD. The video below depicts obstruction of the emergency room entrance. It will take some days to get the whole story, including whether ambulances had to be diverted to other hospitals. But a Level 1 mobilization is a huge resource drain on an already diminished NYPD. x.com/goblinhomicide…

@jimfornyc Well first of all, my two eyes that I saw it with. Pictured here is where all the action I witnessed was happening. Protestors were on the sidewalks, not in front of the entrances but NYPD was fully blocking the street.

And yes you ARE a public figure by legal definition. I will say again no threats- but i worry as a woman for women

@RossBarkan NYPD was blocking the roads and not allowing cars/ambulances through. Multiple times protesters were yelling for them to clear a path for ambulances.

NYPD tells me that they were not coordinating with ICE. They said they were responding to 911 calls and trying to open up hospital entrances and exits that were blocked by protesters.

@ObjectiveQueen @BKBPReynoso Nobody damaged the hospital and people didn’t “come to the neighborhood” to protest. We live here. Most of the people there were on their way home because this all happened right outside the subway entrance.

@BKBPReynoso Also If you come to our neighborhood to protest don’t damage the local hospital, at the very least clean up the damage so emergency workers can serve all people.
