@ZubairKhanPK All these lines, in some shape or form, have been part of Lahore's mass transit plan for at least the past 15 years or so.

Punjab Approves Pakistan’s First Fully Underground Metro Train Project. Govvt sources said 27 km Blue Line, running from Valencia Town to Babu Sabu Chowk. The total cost is expected to exceed Rs600 billion. What happened to that Hundred of Billion Orange Line & Red Line?

@LahoriElite There was a rumour that Jayasuriya had metal wires or some similar contraption in his bat that helped him hit such huge sixes. This was back when he was at the peak of his batting career.

A young Pakistani man, 17, and his friend crossed the border at Ganda Singh Wala into India for fun, spent a day in Ferozpur city, came back to Pakistan the next day and was caught by the border police in Pakistan! Manto style fiction turned reality.

The nightingale Nayyara Noor (1950-2022) croons a fabled ghazal of Behzad Lakhnavi "aye jazba-e-dil agar main chahun, har chez muqabil aa jaye". Contrary to the reign of Saree-donning ghazal-gayaks, she appeared simple & sublime as was her singing, devoid of classical nakhre.

@BlastPmln @SirDigALot @CherieDamour_ BBC remembers to make this interview 1 week after a failed hijacking by BLA that has resulted in immense pressure on the government from both the public and soldiers to wake up and launch an operation? Very interesting timing.

Never thought my thousands of hours of academic research on US foreign aid, crunching USAID data sets, interviewing over a 100 officials would end up becoming more relevant and useful in 2025. Coming from the policy side into research, the journey made me realise things about aid, politics, governance and narratives in ways I never thought would be possible. Foreign aid, no matter how benign, is an intervention in the social, cultural, intellectual and political ecosystem of the recipient country. Almost always it will wreck havoc no matter what the intentions are, given the way aid is structured and transmitted. I could write a lot more about it but I’ve already done that in a boring academic book: amazon.com/Aid-Politics-N…
