Maybe in the future, people are going to marry AI.

OpenAI Astra: The Next Generation of AI May Be Designed to Push the Boundaries of Human Knowledge If the rumors surrounding OpenAI’s next-generation model Astra are eventually confirmed, its significance could go far beyond a typical upgrade of large language models. Over the past few years, AI development has focused heavily on language generation, coding assistance, content creation, and workflow automation. However, the most important question about Astra may not be how much work it can automate, but whether it can begin to participate in the creation of new knowledge. The true measure of advanced intelligence is not simply whether a machine can complete tasks that humans already know how to solve, but whether it can explore problems that humanity has not yet solved. Astra could represent OpenAI’s exploration of the next stage of artificial intelligence: transforming AI from a “knowledge retrieval and processing tool” into a potential research partner. Current large language models have access to enormous amounts of information, but they mainly operate by understanding, combining, and reasoning over existing knowledge. Scientific discovery requires something fundamentally different: creating new theories, discovering hidden structures, and developing new concepts. In particular, mathematics provides one of the most challenging tests for AI intelligence. A model that can solve mathematical problems is impressive, but true mathematical intelligence requires much more: discovering new relationships, proposing original conjectures, and finding proof strategies that humans have not considered before. Mathematics is considered one of the strongest benchmarks for AI reasoning because it relies almost entirely on abstraction and logical thinking. Many real-world tasks can be approached through experience, examples, and historical data, but fundamental mathematics often has no clear answer or existing reference path. When mathematicians face a difficult problem, the hardest part is usually not performing calculations, but identifying the right perspective, uncovering hidden patterns, and creating entirely new methods. If a model like Astra could contribute meaningfully to mathematical research, it would represent a new form of intelligence: a machine capable of exploring unknown intellectual territory. The potential applications of such a system would extend far beyond mathematics. Fundamental mathematics is the foundation of modern science, and breakthroughs in one field often accelerate progress across many others. In physics, AI could help researchers explore new theoretical models and discover deeper connections between existing theories. In materials science, it could search for novel structures with specific properties. In biology and medicine, it could analyze complex systems and uncover mechanisms that are difficult for humans to identify. These fields share a common challenge: the complexity of modern scientific problems is increasing beyond the ability of individual researchers, and AI could become a new tool for expanding human cognitive capabilities. This is also why fundamental scientific reasoning may represent a higher level of AI intelligence than simply generating code or automating office tasks. Programming is undoubtedly an important capability, but software development benefits from enormous amounts of existing examples, clear rules, and immediate feedback. Scientific discovery is different. It requires long-term reasoning, abstract understanding, creativity, and the ability to explore uncertain paths. A truly advanced AI should not only provide answers based on existing knowledge; it should help humanity discover new answers.

Remember when realmeUI had this charging animation? 😋 It would show 0-100% in decimals even with a 20W VOOC charger. Pretty sad they removed it.
