On a livestream for the Controvérsia Católica channel — the pioneering sedevacantist channel in Brazil — His Most Reverend Excellency Rodrigo da Silva speaks on the necessity of an Imperfect General Council for resolving the current crisis, drawing from his latest studies of the works Tractatus de Papa et de Concilio Oecumenico, written by Dominique Bouix, a French Jesuit canonist and theologian, doctor of theology and of both laws (utroque jure), one of the most comprehensive nineteenth-century works on papal ecclesiology and ecumenical councils, published in the very year of Vatican I; and Theses de Ecclesia Christi — Opus Posthumum, written by João Baptista Franzelin, S.J., Cardinal and professor at the Roman College, one of the principal theological experts of Vatican I and a decisive figure in the drafting of Pastor Aeternus. A posthumous work of exemplary scholastic rigor, the Theses de Ecclesia Christi systematically treat the constitution of the Church, papal primacy, and extraordinary cases of sede vacante, making the work an indispensable reference for traditional ecclesiology.

Concluding rationally that the See is vacant is not a radical theological opinion. It is the conclusion of those who take seriously what Holy Mother Church has always taught about the Papacy. The real radicalism lies in pretending that a man who destroys the Faith is its guardian. We do not reject the Pope — we ardently desire one. What we reject are those who usurp the throne of Peter in order to preach a new doctrine.

@bruferreiracds @capitolhillcath Interesting, yet your example is a council convened by the antipope John XXIII(declared such by the council), attended by European bishops with the voting done by nation and not individual bishops

@capitolhillcath @alla_talanta Because it is not possible to convene a conclave when there are no cardinals, what is being proposed is an Imperfect General Council, the same solution that resolved the Western Schism.

Who would convene the Imperfect General Council? In the ordinary state of the Church, only the Roman Pontiff can legitimately convene a General Council. However, as taught unanimously by Robert Bellarmine, Thomas Cajetan, and the tradition of the canonists, in a situation of manifest or doubtful vacancy of the Apostolic See, such a convocation would come from the Catholic bishops who preserved the Faith, acting not by delegated pontifical authority, but by the authority of self-preservation inherent to the Mystical Body itself, which cannot perish for lack of a head. Who would determine whether worldwide episcopal participation is sufficient to constitute moral unanimity? In canonical and theological tradition, there is no authority external to the Council that determines beforehand whether episcopal participation is sufficient. There exists no fixed standard by which one determines whether the number of bishops present was sufficient. The Imperfect General Council, gathered in the Holy Ghost, judges its own universality, just as the Council of Constance did, and this self-justification is definitively sealed by the Roman Pontiff who emerges from the conciliar process itself.

The Second Vatican Council is a great gift to the Church given to us by the Holy Spirit, even if its meaning has been distorted by modernist heretics and so-called traditionalists. Its true purpose and value is stated plainly in the beautiful introduction of Lumen gentium: "Christ is the Light of nations. Because this is so, this Sacred Synod gathered together in the Holy Spirit eagerly desires, by proclaiming the Gospel to every creature, to bring the light of Christ to all men, a light brightly visible on the countenance of the Church. Since the Church is in Christ like a sacrament or as a sign and instrument both of a very closely knit union with God and of the unity of the whole human race, it desires now to unfold more fully to the faithful of the Church and to the whole world its own inner nature and universal mission. This it intends to do following faithfully the teaching of previous councils. The present-day conditions of the world add greater urgency to this work of the Church so that all men, joined more closely today by various social, technical and cultural ties, might also attain fuller unity in Christ." The purpose of the Second Vatican Council is mission so that the world might be reconsecrated to Christ through the Holy Spirit and offered up to the glory of the Father.

The Second Vatican Council established a new religion. One does not even have to be a Sedevacantist to acknowledge this. People want to receive all the information they want to build their worldview upon only from podcasts. Is this a good way to form your opinions?

@FlatCath If Rome was torn from our Lord’s church by its heresy, where is the visible church? Who leads the light of the world; the city on a hilltop with the authority of our Lord to bind? Who is guided by the Advocate to teach no heresy?

Sadly, many who like this post, do not believe our Lord’s teaching. The source of the problem is neither the Holy Spirit or Vatican II’s documents. The problem, as it was in the beginning, is pride. Men and women within the Church listening to the deceiver sinned.
