@allexandre @TheAviationist @TallGlenn85 That’s awesome! I was there ‘91 to ‘93. I loved Terceira, the Portuguese people, food, and culture. I extended my stay for an extra year because I liked it so much there.

And here’s a B-52 launching from RAF Fairford for an Epic Fury mission. Take a look at the loadout.

In the 90s I worked in the HQ Building at Lajes Field (Azores). Our Base Commander was Col. Bryan Arnold (he would retire as a Lt. General), a former B-52 pilot. He called me up to his office for a few minutes to chat before he was going to pin on a stripe. We talked about B-52s and I told him how much I loved that aircraft. A couple weeks later, he came downstairs and invited me to go out with him to watch the flight line. The HQ Bldg. was on a hill, overlooking the runway. A rare B-52 had arrived at Lajes and Col. Arnold spoke with the aircrew. They agreed to do a low pass over the flight line after takeoff. It was an amazing experience watching it flying, up close! I still love B-52s and imagine that old plane will still be flying after I’ve passed away.

Aprovaram o diploma do ch e do CDS.

A colleague argued in a paper that "medieval Europeans were racist." I replied that medieval Muslims were as well, and cited several sources. They said "that is whataboutism... we're not talking about Islam, we're talking about Europe." But the whole point presumably, of saying medieval Europeans were racist, was to point out that medieval Europeans were unusually bad. If everyone was equally racist, then what is the point of singling out Europeans? Why not argue that indeed, racism was prevalent across many cultures in the middle ages? The "whataboutism" counter is therefore a fallacy. If someone is arguing that one group was exceptionally bad, then by pointing out that every other group was equally bad, and therefore that the first group was not exceptionally bad, then you have defeated the original argument. "Whataboutism" is simple deflection, against an argument which does in fact render your original argument meaningless. Now, if someone had been arguing that medieval Europeans were better than everyone else, then, the revelation that Europeans were racist would be a salient point, and the "whataboutist" argument would hold water if someone tried to point out Islamic racism as a counter-argument. But 9 times out of 10, the original argument made by Western scholars is based on the idea that Europeans were in fact worse than other groups. Sorry, dear colleagues, but maybe we should reinstate basic logical training in high school and college...

European countries are becoming deathly afraid of portraying their own histories on their money, or in any cultural artifact which represents those histories in a positive light. This is a direct result of my humanities colleagues adopting an almost universal anti-Western bias in everything they write and teach. Nearly every historical figure from Europe, it seems, is now officially "offensive," "divisive," or linked to something bad. This state of affairs cannot be allowed to continue if Europe is to have a bright future. A country which is not proud of its greatest past achievements--even such obviously universal achievements as discovering the germ theory of disease, or bettering the lives of millions through mandatory secular education--is a country which will soon lose its will to exist. My humanities colleagues might think that this is exactly what they want--for European countries to cease existing as European countries with European traditions. But in this, my learned colleagues show themselves much more naive, and less capable of governing, than the average person in the street. This is why democracy works so well as a rule--because the collective judgment is usually better than the judgment of any group swayed by groupthink, as the liberal arts academy now is to a shocking degree. As Shaftesbury said, "the most ingenious way to become foolish is through a system." And my colleagues, by giving in to the social media-driven Leftist hooliganism and pre-Enlightenment irrationality epitomized by CRT and its ideological cousins, are certainly proving his point.

The Bank of England will feature wildlife on its new banknotes because it’s scared of being divisive. It states: ‘The theme should not involve imagery that would reasonably be offensive to, or exclude, any groups’. When we had a common culture we honoured heroes like Wellington.
