One of the biggest culture shocks I got when I arrived Canada 🇨🇦 2023 happened on my very first day at school 😭 I entered my class, about 30 students in total.
29 were Indians. I was the only black guy there, and not one Canadian-born student 😅 For a second I had to check if my flight mistakenly landed in Punjab 🇮🇳 From the bus, to Walmart, to people walking on the street, all I kept hearing was Punjabi everywhere. What surprised you the most about moving abroad? 😂

@SheIsChosen89 @shruthie_j 😂. Her response is funny. She’s comparing a country at 6% and a continent at 4%. These were the main issues we struggled with in class regarding understanding.

17 Accused in Peel Police Extortion Network Investigation Were Not Canadian Citizens Peel Regional Police say 17 men who are not Canadian citizens have been arrested in connection with an alleged international criminal network known as “For Brothers,” accused of targeting business owners and community members through extortion, threats and violence across Canada and the United States. The investigation, led by Peel police’s Extortion Task Force, focused on what investigators describe as a coordinated campaign of intimidation involving shootings, arsons and financial demands directed at local businesses, including restaurants and trucking companies. Police allege the group operated in Brampton, Mississauga, Caledon and British Columbia, with connections extending into California. The joint investigation began in December 2025 and involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Canadian Border Services Agency, the Ontario Provincial Police, the FBI and FINTRAC. Peel police also credited the Surrey Police Service and Edmonton Police Service for assisting in the case. Investigators say the accused are connected to 24 incidents, including 16 violent attacks linked to the alleged For Brothers network. Police allege the incidents included multiple shootings and arsons, with a total of 324 rounds fired during the attacks. In one case, investigators allege two suspects carried out a shooting and arson at a home in Caledon before allegedly targeting a business in Brampton in a second shooting minutes later. Search warrants executed across several locations in April 2026 led to the arrests of 17 men, who collectively face 106 criminal charges. Police also seized six firearms, illicit drugs, multiple cell phones, SIM cards and fraudulent identification documents during the investigation. Authorities say six individuals charged by Peel police could face immigration consequences, including possible removal from Canada, once their criminal proceedings conclude. In a separate enforcement action, CBSA arrested and detained six individuals for alleged immigration inadmissibility. Police say three of those individuals have already been removed from Canada, two remain in custody and one was released on conditions by the Immigration and Refugee Board. The force’s Extortion Task Force, made up of roughly 30 officers and analysts, has been investigating violent extortion-related crimes since 2023, including shootings, arsons, threats and financial demands targeting members of the community. It’s odd seeing a police constable, someone whose actual job is enforcing the rule of law, present the Komagata Maru solely as a story of innocent passengers cruelly denied entry, with no acknowledgment that the passengers were deliberately challenging Canada’s immigration laws. Under Trudeau we’ve basically had entire planeloads of Komagata Marus for several years. Today, a Komagatu Maru would hopefully be turned away. You can oppose racism and racial discrimination and still believe countries have a right to control their borders. Those ideas are not contradictory. These passengers were not fleeing genocide or persecution in the way Jewish refugees later were during the 1930s and 1940s. They were British subjects asserting what they believed were mobility rights within the British Empire. I've been saying this for years, the Komagata Maru story has increasingly hardened into a kind of unquestionable national morality tale like the mass graves. And for what it's worth, no one in India even knows or cares about this. But of course, count on naive and earnest Canadians to make this into something which it's not.
Chief Constable Steve Rai@VPDChiefRai

Today, we remember the passengers of the Komagata Maru and reflect on a painful chapter in Canadian history. In 1914, 376 passengers seeking opportunity and a better life arrived in Vancouver Harbour, only to be denied entry because of discriminatory immigration policies. Forced to remain aboard the ship for two months under difficult conditions, they were ultimately turned away. The boat returned to India and many of the passengers were imprisoned or killed. The incident remains a powerful reminder of the harm caused by prejudice and discrimination, and the importance of building communities grounded in respect and equal treatment for all.

What I hate most about H1B’s era immigrants is how it imports a class who feel feel culturally superior. You can feel it slowly eroding the spirit that built America. They view our casualness, lightheartedness, and (especially) egalitarianism as backwards and stupid. (Never mind how when they become dual citizens, they vote for extreme egalitarianism because they know it’s destructive) They stay insular because to them the street crackhead isn’t much diff from the richest American. It’s all a blur to them. We’re swapping patriots, builders and creators for status-seeking lower paid “specialists” who have nothing but complete disdain for us. The trade ain’t worth it long term.

@outmywaylimbrol @f18husky @TheChaosWeeber Min wage immigrant trying to settle in an alien land is sending some money to poor family who pooled in all their money to contribute labor to Canada? Those families must be making billions! Holy fuck, that’s devastating economic impact! Indians in IRCC did this!

@f18husky @outmywaylimbrol @TheChaosWeeber lol sure you will. What else? You’ve been fighting all your life in Canada about how all the Tim Horton jobs were dominated by white kids in 90s and 2000s and then Filipinos in mid 2000s and 2010s?

@outmywaylimbrol @f18husky @TheChaosWeeber Yeah like the empathy showed here? By dehumanising “Indians” as if they are a fictional goblin race and not actual people trying to do jobs. Did you bury your head under sand for all the hate and racism they get these days? I’ll take the subjective “triumph” then

@f18husky @TheChaosWeeber Lol USA is a great example of immigration done right? It’s capped and they hate Indians more than illegals. 100 year wait for green card btw. Wake up. Racism is no excuse for economic stagnation and laziness. NIMBY boomers fucked Canada and y’all want scapegoats. 👋

@allgoingbacklol @TheChaosWeeber When I talk about multiculturalism I’m not one of those fucks that just wants people of European ethnicity. I genuinely just don’t want 3/4 of our immigrants to be from the same country. It should be capped like the USA. I don’t want the country flooded with my despora either.
