🚨 CAUGHT ON CAMERA: UNPAID TSA EMPLOYEE — TRAINING ICE AGENT TO REPLACE THEM
A passenger filmed this inside a live security checkpoint at JFK Airport.
• ICE agent being trained to check boarding passes
• Inside an active TSA line at JFK
• While TSA workers aren't getting paid
Let that sink in.
The people running airport security aren’t being paid.
And they’re training their replacements… in real time.
Is this temporary… or the beginning of something much bigger?

Survived a 4 hour security line and made the flight out of Atlanta. Thankfully they delayed the flight so people could make it, otherwise I was gonna be in standby prison, living in the terminal like Tom Hanks

@javocadosss Yeah, they basically delayed the flight 15 minutes just for late arrivals, definitely not something for folks to rely on but it may save some people!
I don't know if this will help someone out there, but TSA lines (pre and otherwise) are hours long at LGA terminal B, it's an absolute meltdown. Go as early as possible but know it may not be enough. I do not think I'll be making my flight...

It took me 3+ hours to get through TSA at the IAH airport. Fortunately, Zipair delayed the flight 90mins to let all the passengers go through the chaos 🫶🏻
I’m pinch-hitting today covering the security line mess at the #Atlanta#airport. Here’s what it looked like just after 6am, with security lines spilling outside the North Terminal. It’s looked about the same since I got here at 5am.
Acting TSA Administrator tells congress ICE is helping with "several different functions, including queue management...exit lanes, staffing, divesting, giving passengers instructions on how to load up their bins... helping operate the travel document checker as well."
The Transportation Security Administration warned new airport screeners won’t be ready in time for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as the agency grapples with staffing shortages during a prolonged Department of Homeland Security shutdown bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
Quick PSA from this morning at LGA Terminal B in case anyone’s curious how the lines are:
We arrived at 4:50am for an 8am flight and there were already probably ~1,000 people already lined up in front of us in non-precheck. There were just 4 agents working the TSA line and it took 2 hours & 10 minutes to get through.
BREAKING: Acting TSA Administrator Ms. Ha Nguyen McNeill testifies before Congress that TSA is currently suffering the longest wait times in agency history, with callout rates hitting 40-50% at some airports and more than 480 employees quitting since the shutdown began. McNeil testifies that TSA has been shut down for half of fiscal year 2026, and $1 billion in TSA paychecks will be missed if the shutdown isn't ended by Friday.
She testified that to make ends meet, TSA officers have been selling blood and plasma and sleeping in their cars. Some have received eviction notices, missed bill payments and accrued late fees, damaged their credit, and have defaulted on loans, but are “still expected to perform at the highest level”.

NTSB said a system designed to help air-traffic controllers monitor vehicles and airplanes on the ground failed to alert personnel at LaGuardia Airport before an Air Canada jet collided with a fire truck Sunday. Updated earlier story with the latest. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
NTSB Chair Jennifer Homendy during her briefing today confirmed that there were only two controllers in the cab. She said the agency is still verifying the total number in facility and that there's some "conflicting information" to sort through.
Also data from Cirium indicates the airport was busier than expected for that time of night. For the time period between 10 pm and 11:37 pm when the crash occurred, a total of 31 flights were scheduled to depart or arrive. The actual number ended up being 70.
ICYMI we confirmed NYT reporting that there were four controllers on duty on night of LaGuardia collision but two were in the cab -- the panoramic, glass-enclosed room atop the tower -- guiding traffic. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
When you arrive at Terminal E at Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) in Houston, the line outside looks fairly manageable. But in reality, it starts in the basement, goes up a floor and zigzags through baggage check, then runs outside before snaking around the check in counters.
NTSB will hold a media briefing today at 1:30 p.m. ET on the March 22 collision involving Air Canada Express Flight 8646 (Jazz Aviation, CRJ-900) and a firefighting vehicle on Runway 4 at LaGuardia Airport. 📍 LaGuardia Airport Terminal B upper-level corridor connecting Terminal B with the Terminal B parking garage.
