Seen the hot topic on whether or not adding Tkachuk is a good idea or not. His face is very punchable and his politics are shit, but he's a 26yo power forward with point per game potential. There are not a lot of names out there so if I'm the Caps I'm at least making the call.

@LukeCerpinTaxt From the few in person games I saw it’s a mix of both. He’s tough, elusive, and also a bit of a rat always stirring it up. I am on record of being cautious of high expectations of him. Curious to see if all of that translates to NHL speed, which is my worry for him

This is actually really promising. Always a concern with someone his size playing in a physical league. The fact he played all games tells you he’s either tough for a smaller player and/or is elusive with the puck making him harder to hit, which is a great trait.

I feel Jordan Kyrou will be traded in the off-season. The team that acquires him will likely get a great addition at a lower cost. Even in his down year, Kyrou still was very good two-way winger at five on five.

@TheCupitals Old school out of touch. Yes it is his job to get the team going. Especially with young guys you need to know what motivates them. Bigger problem is organization disconnect. Carberry is fine with over passing for higher danger chances this guy says shoot from everywhere.

Only potential stud 2c we have is lil pro. & yes not a single stud 1c on the roster, you need atleast two studs up the middle to make a run at the offs.

@SaintNick2018 I think it’s all a moot point based on Ted’s loyalty. Should it be the case that the front office wants to go a different directions the fan base, hell even the players, would have an incredibly impactful reaction. Might not see a red jersey in the seats for a long time.

You give Ovi whatever he wants and you deal with the fallout later. He has inarguably earned it.
You don't give him the John Carlson "what's prudent?" treatment. We are not doing that with Alex Ovechkin. If Ovi wants to come back, he comes back for as long as he wants.

Cant say lil pro until he plays a full nhl season as 1c or 2c. Lappy is a 4c at bes, mcm is not a good c.

Strome and Lil Pro are both 2C’s, McMichael is a solid 3C, Lapierre if given a full year at 3C would succeed, Sourdif is a 2/3C, Gastrin and other prospects

Something I appreciate about the Ovi era, including this year, is the team always fought so hard to be in the playoffs.
Despite narratives to the contrary, that started at the top with Ovi. He made it 16 of 21 seasons. Didn’t always have the best teams, but always found a way.

@JosephSzymanski Maybe a few years ago yes but not anymore. Their wings overall are all quick, Sourdif is quick while other centers are slow which is fine. 4/6 d will be quick. Game changing skills are far more important. Robertson - goal scorer Tkachuk - PITA 30+ goals. Those are the caps needs

@LukeCerpinTaxt I think if Ovi is to return next year his role is to strictly be a net front presence and faceoff shots. He’s probably underrated in his net front skills. 3LW lots of o zone starts again 30-45 seconds PP 12-14 minutes a night

You technically don’t need to take him off it but he needs to be put in front of the net and on the 2nd unit. No more 2 minutes standing in the circle and losing races back the other way.

@sammisilber Weird season - compressed schedule with a uniquely old and young team. Young guys gotta learn fast old guys get no down time. Lack 2-top3 wingers. Need to add two 35/40+ goal guys and pray Ovi comes back as 3LW. Solid stay home D needed. Future is BRIGHT!

A weird season. PLD, Wilson, Leonard injuries led to inconsistency in key stretches. Couldn’t find a rhythm until it was too late, unfortunately.
Now, we wait to see what the future holds for No. 8.

@carterbsports I think 2nd in the league is probably the outlier of two other missed playoffs. Carberry is here to bring the young guys along and he has a longggg leash to do so. Cristall is talented but from the handful of games I’ve seen in person not sure he’s fast enough for his size

@3rdSquadCaptain @CJC_95 Protas will be good, I think a solid 2C potential but he is not a game breaking high end skill player like Hutson. I’m personally lower on Cristal. Probably close to Sonny than anyone else in my opinion temu Caufield maybe.

I don't know if you could tell, but this game has brought up my frustration that has been boiling since, like, early December.
The 19-year-old who was probably doing an arts-and-crafts elective three weeks ago looks like the best player on the team.
