Selling poisons as food shld be illegal. @MaleCitymv shld close the local produce markets till @MFDA_mv / @MoHmv sorts out the use of illicit and extremely harmful pesticides in the produce, regulates and implements it properly.

The Thoddoo agrochemical report 'From dying soils to hidden residues, Maldives faces a food‑safety crisis in slow motion' is a wake-up call. Banned pesticides Carbaryl & Diafenthiuron have been found in food produce. Residues far exceed safe limits: • Dimethoate: 0.52 (limit 0.01) • Permethrin: 0.95 (limit 0.05) • Carbendazim: 0.61 (limit 0.2) This is a serious public health risk requiring immediate intervention. I urge @presidencymv @MFAORmv @Shiyamaldives @MoHmv to enforce regulations, protect consumers, and halt the use of hazardous chemical pesticides without delay. We must also correct a dangerous misconception: the Maldives can grow food without toxic chemicals. From 2006–2013, Island Organics successfully produced food organically on Maarikilu, training farmers across Baa Atoll (Kihaadhoo, Dharavandhoo, Kamadhoo, Kudarikilu, Maalhos) and across Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, Shaviyani, Fuvahmulah, and Addu to transition away from chemical pesticides and increase food security. This is not theoretical—it is proven. In November 2013, this project was disrupted when, through a flawed bidding process to establish an integrated agricultural farm without chemical pesticides on Maarikilu was awarded to WIZ Company, President Waheed’s wife Ilham’s & her siblings'construction company with no prior agricultural experience; despite a functioning integrated organic farm established by Island Organics already in operation for 7 years! We do not lack solutions. We lack honesty, accountability and justice! see.mv/104689

Dear @hdcmaldives It’ll be nice if can clean up this pavement area. Runners and people walking often use this road however they cannot use the pavement. Been like that for years. This is a commonly used area for such specially on weekends.

This is deeply concerning. Pesticide residue analysis from Thoddoo shows multiple crops exceeding EU safety limits, including banned chemicals like Carbaryl and Diafenthiuron detected in everyday foods like cucumber, papaya, and spinach. This isn’t just overuse. This is a public health risk. We need urgent monitoring, accountability, and farmer education before this becomes a crisis.

Approaching the near side of the Moon. The Artemis II astronauts have surpassed the record for the distance from Earth at 1:56 ET (1756 UTC). This record was previously set during the Apollo 13 mission when the astronauts traveled 248,655 miles from Earth. The Moon continues to grow larger and larger in the windows of the Orion spacecraft as the Artemis II mission gears up to observe the far side. The astronauts are predicted to make their closest approach of the Moon around 7:02pm ET (2302 UTC).

7 years ago, after a major fire incident, President Ibu announced that all “chemical godowns” would be relocated to Thilafushi. The project to build a chemical storage facility was awarded to SJ Construction for MVR 9.5 million, with a 60-day completion timeline. Tonight’s fire occurred in a fertilizer godown, perhaps not officially classified as a “chemical godown” ? Does anyone have an update on what happened to the project to relocate chemical storage to Thilafushi?

With the debate of merging presidential and parliamentary election dates, think abt wht tht actually means. If both elections happen on the same day, the presidential candidate’s party is more likely to sweep parliament too? One vote, one wave, less thinking? Maybe, it can happen! But if the dates r separate, ppl get a second chance to think. They can evaluate, correct, balance. The power stays with the ppl longer. Merging elections isnt abt efficiency, its abt consolidating power. Keep them separate. Let ppl decide twice. I am inclined to say NO
