On the night of 05/08/2024, Islamists attacked several areas of #Pirojpur Town. Islamists attacked Hindu houses in Rayer Kathi, Bramhan Kathi and Baju Kathi area. Islamists looted everything. Women were raped. Some were gang-raped. Some women saved themselves by hiding. A woman said, ‘They came with swords and sharp weapons. They took everything. To save our daughters, we give them everything we have. Earlier, I hid my daughters.’ Another woman said, ‘At night, they came. They vandalised our homes and looted everything. We were hiding. They grabbed my brother's wife and took her to another room. They raped her. Later, we recovered her; her face was tied with clothes. They wanted to cut her throat. To save her, we gave them all the gold ornaments.’ Another woman said, ‘We were sleeping. At night, they came. They were armed. They looted everything. They grabbed me and took me to bed. They threatened me with murder. I pleaded with them to spare me. I gave them all my ornaments worth of lacs, so she left me.’ Many other women of the areas also raped or gangraped. Many Hindus already fled from the area.
