Israel’s Channel 13 military analyst @alonbd reports that Israel is using Iron Dome and David’s Sling to intercept Iranian ballistic missiles. Because these systems operate at lower altitudes than Arrow-3, interceptions are occurring closer to the ground—resulting in wider shrapnel dispersal and more frequent sirens across Israel. This comes as Iran reportedly uses cluster munitions, which spread over a broader area even without the full payload of standard missiles.
Greater use of Iron Dome and David’s Sling will raise questions about Arrow-3 and U.S. THAAD stockpiles. Still, the IDF says interception rates are ~90%—higher than the “12 Days War.” It’s investigating the Arad strike that evaded interception; at least 10 serious injuries, but no fatalities so far.
