@badiucao I am born in the USA and though I spoke Cantonese with my mother at home it wasn’t until I moved to China that I learned mandarin. It required a lot of work and humility. Then I understood how difficult it was for my immigrants to go to a foreign land and speak English.

The address is No. 83, Fangzhuanchang Hutong / 方砖厂胡同83号院. It's a small eatery that serves only zhajiangmian (Beijing Fried Sauce Noodles), where waiting in line is already common (it was also listed in Bib Gourmand). Now that Jensen Huang visited and this video is going viral, you can expect long lines. It's located right in between Nanluoguxiang and Qianhai, so it's a perfect stop for late lunch and an afternoon stroll. Bookmark for your next hutong / Beijing trip.

[1] Continuing my thread on the big Trump–Xi summit day through the lens of Chinese social media. 🧵👇
It’s time for the state banquet. Xi and Trump have both delivered their speeches and toasts, but on Chinese social media, people are more interested in what “Old Musk” (Elon Musk), Tim Cook, Jensen Huang, and the other business heavyweights are up to. The mood before the banquet is relaxed, with guests chatting, mingling, and taking photos.

Don't blame DC he just doesn't see race. The most anti-racist mensch in the UFC. So anti-racist, in fact, that he doesn't know anything about the fighters on a card beforehand so that it doesn't bias his commentary

Singapore eyes Thailand Land Bridge as PM Anutin Charnvirakul hosts Chan Chun Sing for talks
Thailand’s proposed Land Bridge project drew interest from Singapore during talks between Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and visiting Singaporean Defence Minister Chan Chun Sing, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
The meeting, held on Monday at Government House, saw Singapore view the Land Bridge as a strategic logistics link connecting two seas, aimed at reducing transport risks and boosting regional connectivity. The Thai premier said the project would require significant investment and cooperation from the public and private sectors, as well as international partners, to ensure long-term sustainability.
Beyond infrastructure, the two sides discussed expanding cooperation across several key sectors. In defence, both countries reaffirmed long-standing ties, including joint exercises such as Cobra Gold, with Thailand continuing to support Singapore’s use of training facilities.
Energy cooperation was also highlighted, with both sides exploring collaboration in fuel management, energy trade, and regional power grid connectivity, alongside greater use of renewable energy to strengthen regional energy security.
In the aviation sector, Thailand and Singapore discussed developing joint capabilities in aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), combining Singapore’s technological expertise with Thailand’s geographic and workforce advantages to position the region as a service hub.
Food security was another area of focus, with Thailand’s agricultural capacity seen as complementing countries with limited food resources, supporting broader regional stability.

@gaiaslastlaugh Yeah but Japanese tourists aren't going to Nebraska. There's a reason.
English

Having just gotten back from Hokuto/Yatsugatake, I concur. Japan is a wide open country - explore it!!
Emily@writerofscratch
The only reason Japan has an "overtourism" problem is because y'all keep going to the same four of five places in a country that has so much more to offer. Earlier this week I was at a beautiful lake with beautiful cherry blossoms. I saw only five tourists in my 3 hours there.

@adamtaggart Iran has existed for thousands of years as a fortress. They don’t give a fuck. Can’t say the same about our weak leader who posts on the toilet in real time.
English

Interesting
US now extending the ceasefire for an indefinite length of time
The blockade will continue, so the economic pressure on Iran is still being applied
Some will see this as TACO
Others will cheer restraint vs resumption of kinetic activity
The key question here, IMO is: which party does time favor?

@adamtaggart The framing of this question is biased. Why didn’t you ask its opposite a few days ago?

Preparing to head back to ‘Stone Age’
The surging retail price of gasoline has prompted the Royal Thai Police in Lampang province in Thailand return to the ‘Stone Age’ as police officers are testing the use of horse drawn carriages as part of their patrolling exercise.
Horse drawn carriages are a unique symbol of the province but the police patrol has never been one of the tourist attraction of the province.
The mad king of the west (Donald Trump) had issued ultimatums to Iran that he would bomb that country back to ‘Stone Age’ but the ripple effect of the blockade of Strait of Hormuz seems to have made other countries suffer the consequences and Lampang is already testing how it feels like going back to ‘Stone Age’.
