This is my entry for the Pharos NFT design contest. I tried to integrate Pharos' key tenets, its speed, scalability and reliability. Pharos is definitely the way to go, and this NFT represents assets becoming alive on-chain. @pharos_network

Gather your Evidence. Note the officer's name (or name tag/number), uniform details, vehicle/plate number (if any), exact location/highway, date, time, and what exactly happened (e.g., what they asked for, any threats, or bribe demands). If safe, photos/videos of the officer/vehicle/scene are very helpful (recording officials on duty is generally allowed in Nigeria as long as it doesn't interfere). Report to the Relevant State Authority: VIO operations fall under state control (State Ministry of Works and Transport → Vehicle Administration Department, which oversees VIO). Contact your State VIO/vehicle administration office directly for complaints about officer misconduct. Visit their office in the state if possible, or call/write them with details. They handle VIO restructuring and complaints related to road tax/vehicle admin issues. If no direct hotline is listed, use general state complaint lines or visit a local VIO office. Alternative/Stronger Channels: Federal Level (if it involves broader rights violation): Use platforms like reportgov.ng (website or app on iOS/Android) — this is a government portal specifically mentioned for VIO complaints, feedback, and reporting misconduct. Nigeria Police Force (if extortion, threat, or criminal element involved): Report at the nearest police station (give a written statement) or via Police Public Complaints channels. The IGP has repeatedly emphasized zero tolerance for extortion/misconduct (though this is more police-focused, it can apply if criminal).

And the woman went and stand aside as instructed.😂😂 That's by the way, below is the details of why a VIO is not supposed to stand on the road to demand for your particulars. there is a court order (actually a series of binding judgments) that effectively stops Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) from standing on Nigerian roads to stop vehicles and check particulars. In October 2024, Justice Nkeonye Evelyn Maha of the Federal High Court in Abuja (in suit FHC/ABJ/CS/1695/2023, filed by lawyer Abubakar Marshal) ruled that no law empowers VIO (or the Directorate of Road Traffic Services/DRTS) to: Stop motorists on the road, Demand vehicle particulars, Impound, confiscate, or seize vehicles, Impose fines. The court described these actions as unlawful, oppressive, and a violation of fundamental rights (freedom of movement, presumption of innocence, right to property, fair hearing under the 1999 Constitution and African Charter). It issued a perpetual injunction restraining VIO, its officers, agents, and anyone acting on their behalf from such activities on public roads. The VIO/DRTS appealed, but on December 4 or 5, 2025, the Court of Appeal in Abuja (in a unanimous decision by a three-member panel, lead judgment by Justice Oyejoju Oyebiola Oyewumi) upheld and affirmed the Federal High Court ruling. The appeal was dismissed for lack of merit. The appellate court reaffirmed that VIO has no statutory power for roadside stops, checks, impoundments, or fines. Their role is limited to vehicle inspections at authorized testing/inspection centres, not on highways or public roads. The Court of Appeal also awarded costs (e.g., ₦1 million in one report) against the appellant. This means any VIO standing on roads stopping vehicles to check particulars is acting contrary to these court orders. Earlier judgments (e.g., in Delta State High Court around 2021, affirmed on appeal) reached similar conclusions in specific regions, but the 2024/2025 Abuja decisions have nationwide implications, especially as they involve federal courts and fundamental rights.

Read This before you say Life is Fair. Pls don’t scroll. This is a real story, and a life depends on it… 🙏🥹 I received a call in 200 level that my attention was needed at my department. On getting there, I met 4 other students same level as I. The department was about to do accreditation and they needed the top five students of every level to be in attendance. That was the first time I met Opeyemi. Opeyemi was among the students with the top GPA. However, over the next few semesters, Opeyemi's cGPA dropped drastically. He was no where to be found among the top students. What happened to Opeyemi? Opeyemi's mom, his sole support system, fell ill & died, leaving him with depression and responsibilities. He wrestled with depression for a long time, always blaming himself for not being man enough to save his mother, even though there was obviously nothing he could do at the time. That single event messed up his mental health and affected his academics. But the death didn't leave him alone with depression, it also left him with responsibilities of two younger sisters. Realizing he couldn't do anything about what's gone, he vowed to be there for his baby sisters. He, a child himself, became the sole provider for his two sisters (twins). He became more quiet & more hungry. He juggled between school and work to fend for his sisters. He put them in school, got them phones, and spent on them what he didn't even spend on himself. "Taiwo & Kehinde must not lack, they are my remaining family" he'd always say. Last year, Taiwo & Kehinde secured admission into the University and he singlehanded paid all the bills - tuition, housing, reg and everything! But life, they say, ain't fair. It came again with a stronger challenge over a month ago when Kehinde fell seriously ill. On getting to the hospital, they discovered that it's a kidney problem and she needs an emergency transplant for her to survive! 🥹 For over a month now, Kehinde has been surviving on regular dialysis & he's been the one covering all the cost. Now, Opeyemi is totally drained. He needs your help to keep his sister alive. A sum of NGN 50,000,000 is needed to save Kehinde. Please your donation is needed to keep Kehinde alive.
