Though man may endure his lot like Sisyphus, the time must come for him to revolt like Prometheus before his powers are exhausted by the ordeal.

@bmaz It was great. I worked a couple jobs, one as a roofer, and took a philo class at U of A at night. I was broke mostly with a mostly broke gf but the natural beauty and the city were fantastic. Was profiled as a Latino (I'm not) by Tucson PD--random stops--because of my awesome tan!

@emptywheel @PamBondi I think the mundane is the most likely explanation. All Bongino does is whine about how hard the job is and that being in DC separates him from family. He'll resign and try to go back to Fox, not with a bang but a whimper. Nobody likes an incessant whiner.

EU says Elon should not lie abt my blue check
I have my own suspicions about why @PamBondi appointed a babysitter for Bongino (proving that Bongino is nowhere near as competent as Andrew McCabe). But note it happened just as FBI started providing Congress Epstein files.

@investandcreate @JackSutter @StealthQE4 @JohnEkdahl Apples and oranges. The median home now is *much* larger and more luxurious. In 1981 I paid for phone, rent, newspaper and electric bill. No cable/internet, cell phones, laptops, tablets, monitors...People have much bigger places that hold way more stuff than 1981.

Median price for a house in 1981 was almost $80K - my parents mortgage was $68,000. My parents combined income in 1980 was less than $30K. Their mortgage payment was over $1200 a month (rates were over 16% then). After taxes that’s 75% of their take home pay going to mortgage and exactly why they were both working 2 extra part time jobs each to pay the other bills. A mortgage right now on a $325K 3/2 house is $2500. If the avg median combined salary is 95K, that’s less than 50% of take home going to mortgage - much less of a percentage than 1981. But look - there’s no debate that things are super expensive today too - no one is saying otherwise. Bottomline is things were not easy in the 70s and 80s for most Americans just like they’re not easy now.

@tamimarlerMBA @RepThomasMassie Maybe because when the Dems were in power they didn't make releasing the Epstein files a be-all core political/policy goal, while the Republicans did? Now that your dog caught the car, you can hopefully enjoy the ride.

@RepThomasMassie Why are you suddenly calling for justice on the Epstein files when many of us have been demanding justice for years?

I have questions after watching this video: Why would releasing the Epstein files cause political pain to congressmen, does avoiding political pain take priority over justice, and how exactly is the Speaker being prosecuted by a vote on the Epstein files?

@FinancialPhys Gold is far too speculative a measure. $1.60 in Jan 1972 is $12.56 CPI purchasing power today. Simple. Poor people buy CPI things, not gold. Had they indexed to the CPI measure in 1972, we might have avoided the largest transfer of wealth from labor to capital in history.

@bmaz I saw BOC open for Rainbow (fantastic!) a week after seeing Springsteen at his 1970s best. Great contrast. Somehow I think BeBop Deluxe made it in there too.

@alphonso1977 Absolutely. As I said on Bluesy, one of the best show I ever saw was the Black and Blue tour with Sabbath AND Blue Oyster Cult. It was one hell of a show.

@novapilgrim I sold my mom's house to a couple in 2015 for 115k (3br, 1.5 bathrooms, finished bsmt, excellent cond), 30 yr mtg and their monthly cost was around 1200/14400 for the year. $30/hr for a year is about $60k. This was a nice working class neighborhood. It can still work.

It’s genuinely bizarre watching Boomers convince themselves that a couple making $15/hour at 7 Eleven can buy a home, raise family, and retire. They’ll go down as the generation that was chronically delusional

She was a Gov, not a Senator. He’s been in the Senate only 4 years. She said yesterday in the aftermath she has never met him and had no idea who he was. He wasn’t a member of the Senate Committee that considered her nomination, and she didn’t meet with him as part of that process. So what else are you wrong about?
David Frum@davidfrum

What was Noem supposed to do? How about this, "I see my friend Senator Padilla has joined us. Do you mind if I finish my previous answer, then I'll address your question. Do we have a seat in front for Senator Padilla?"

Padilla didn’t have his Senate security pin on and didn’t identify himself ahead of time when he just barged in and tried to rush up towards her. Anyone can say they are a Senator, he’s not a well known or recognizable one. With all the political violence, They had to take him down and detain him. How the hell were they to know who he really was? It was unfortunate but he also knew better.

There is no both sides to this one folks. The government is saying the senator “lunged” at the Secretary and did not identify himself. We have a video where we can see and hear the opposite.

I called for the full release of the Epstein Files a month ago because of my suspicion that @AGPamBondi was concealing the files to protect Donald Trump. Now my suspicion has been confirmed. Release the #EpsteinFiles now!
