Scotiabank @ScotiabankJM @scotiabank lost my incoming $US wire. 3 wires in 1 month and only 1 can be found, despite the traces from the sending bank showing nothing changed in the sending details. Despite about 4 escalations, all closed with lies about the incorrect SWIFT code.

CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG BUT, I turn 38 this year and I have realised , as a man, no one cares about you. Not your wife. Not your family. Not your friends. Not your workmates. Nobody. People act like they care, but deep down, they don't. You are on your own. Always on your own.

Silas was the anchor of our friend group. He was the problem solver so we all just assumed he was made of steel because he never asked for anything. But last Friday, the illusion completely shattered. We were hanging out at my place, and I noticed he had been incredibly quiet all evening. He was sitting on the edge of the sofa, staring blankly at his phone, looking absolutely drained from the week. I walked up behind him, wrapped my arms around his shoulders, and just gave him a tight, genuine hug. I didn't say anything; I just rested my chin on his shoulder and held him for a few seconds. His entire body went completely rigid. It wasn’t the stiffening of someone who was uncomfortable; it was the physical shock of a nervous system that literally did not know how to process basic, non-transactional human warmth. Then, after a few terrifying seconds, he let out this shaky, exhausted exhale, and I felt him lean his entire body weight backward into the hug. It was like watching a concrete pillar crumble in slow motion. When I finally pulled away, I jokingly asked him, "When was the last time somebody hugged you just to hug you?" He stared at the floor for a long time, doing the math in his head, before he quietly answered. "Honestly? Probably two years ago." That single sentence completely broke my heart and fundamentally changed how I view the male experience. Women live in an absolute ocean of casual affection. We compliment each other, we hold hands, we hug when we meet and when we leave. But men live in a terrifying, silent affection desert. Society has conditioned us to believe that a man's body is strictly built for labor, for defense, or for romance. We have completely stripped them of their right to platonic, comforting touch. We watch them carry the absolute heaviest burdens, fully expecting them to do it without ever needing to be held. Silas wasn't made of steel; he was just severely touch-starved, standing right in front of us, and none of us had ever bothered to notice.

The fact that people are willing to incur 2 tax charges from the online seller, 2 GCT charges from the bank, 2 shipping and handlings fees from the couriers to avoid paying the duty should be indicative to the fact that the duty is excessive no?
Jamaica Gleaner@JamaicaGleaner

Finance Minister Fayval Williams has raised concerns about “order splitting”, a practice in which shoppers divide large online purchases into smaller packages to remain under the US$100 duty-free threshold. Read more: jamaica-gleaner.com/article/news/2… #GLNRToday

A company owned by a member of parliament imported JMD millions of Products through A government subsidiary bypassing restrictions. I have not heard a peep out of anyone. Why is the minister gaslighting me that by legally splitting packages we are robbing the government ?

The only thing they are good at is not accepting that their system is terrible. They are very creative with their excuses.

@SagicorJa has to be hands down the worst bank in Jamaica. Trying to transfer your money? Problems. Trying to access their website? Problems. Going in branch? Problems. Shopping online? Problems or astronomical charges. And don't get me started on using them for Investments.

This is unacceptable Scotiabank Jamaica. There are 6 machines and of the 2 designated for deposits, only ONE is working. There’s a line of 20 people & after waiting for over an hour, I’m only at 5th position. This should NOT be happening at an established bank. @scotiabank

@YaniqueJLambert Sagicor is always at the forefront of yesteryear to be fair. That said...our financial system doesn't seem to care what the public wants...it's all about what they want to give the public.
