Posting this again with a nice photo in this tweet and the link in the following tweet as it didn't execute very well last time. Here we go - @roisinmurphy gave her first public speech on cancel culture and the importance of @Freedom_in_Arts in Parliament yesterday.

@SimonScarrow @IsabelPat1886 @BohunkPundit @robprogressive Lots of exceptions to your rule then Simon! Sounds like the only kind of education you want to tax is the kind of education you don’t like. You are the outlier here: there’s nowhere else in the world that does this.

My daughter’s school announced yesterday it’s shutting down. No warning. Just shutting down. 100s of distraught kids.   Why? Labour’s tax hikes on school fees & NI hikes on staff. A high-quality, nurturing school forced to close because of greedy, arrogant taxation. Disgusting. All it does is pile more pressure on overcrowded state schools.  How can ANYONE justify taxing education. Labour are destroying the very foundations of our children’s future.  What an absolute disgrace. @UKLabour

@SimonScarrow @robprogressive Do you think it is a tax dodge that parents aren’t charged VAT (yet) on nursery fees? Or that students aren’t (yet) charged VAT on university tuition fees?

@David__Osland That’s nearly 1/3 kids. Parents can’t afford breakfast? Then Labour should have prioritised serious grown up economic policies to address this. If there are so many hungry kids why did they not tax vaping/ gambling

Up to 37,000 children may have to leave private schools because their parents say they can't afford VAT on fees. And four million kids go to school hungry because their parents can't afford breakfast.

@David__Osland Where did you pluck that 4 million figure from??? Not even charities whose entire existence relies on lobbying for free school breakfasts think 4 million British children are so poor they are going without breakfast.

For the last time if you can’t afford VAT on private education… don’t send your children. I’m sick of parents feeling entitled to help, when they criticise other parents who need help paying for school meals or school uniforms. I’m sorry but what makes you so special? EVERY /1
