@abracing0 Any chance they go for the Preakness in 2 weeks time as that was a huge effort by Danon Bourbon and he looked gone halfway down the Churchill Downs stretch? Likely he ran the best race overall.

This is a fair assessment Danon Bourbon ran very well
Andrew Hawkins@AndrewNJHawkins

@abracing0 I think Danon Bourbon has run as good as anything in there. The only one to absorb the speed and finish in the top half dozen.

@EclassRacing @doubles_2003 @claydoeski After watching the Derby and the total lack of quality speed you feel the Preakness is a legit goal but it's so much to ask so soon. I'd prefer a rest and to target the Haskell. This horse is an absolute beast and a joy to watch

@alsilvo @doubles_2003 It’s pretty safe to say @claydoeski crude velocity is the best three year-old on planet Earth right now. I’m just trying to enjoy the moment now after that heroic performance. I just love this colt so much. What a heart he has. War Admiral of the 21st Century

@EclassRacing @doubles_2003 Well that was a sensational race by Crude Velocity but I hope he doesn't go to the Preakness despite the fact I think he could be extremely live

Yep. I was expecting some other high class horses like Solitude Dude or Desert Gate to show up but I think Crude and Englishman scared em away. Agreed on the 1 not being a problem for Englishman either. Had Crude drawn it I would worry as sometimes he doesn’t start well but Englishman probably just goes to the lead and Crude rates as he usually does. Would love to see Crude go to the lead one day tho - he can rate but I think his best efforts will be leading like with Life Is Good. It’s the race of the weekend imo. Two undefeated freaks ready to throw down. Almost wish it was just a match race so any other horse doesnt mess things up & we could just find out who was better 😆

@EclassRacing @doubles_2003 Crude Velocity 5/2 and Englishman 3/1 on the morning line both seem like pipe dreams!! Perfectly reasonable to believe these are the 2 best 3 year olds to run on Derby day! Be lucky to get Evens on Crude Velocity 🤣🤣

@EclassRacing @doubles_2003 Field has been drawn and it looks a total 2 horse race. Crude Velocity drew half decent in post 6 whereas Englishman got the 1 hole which is far from ideal but in a weak renewal he can get the lead pretty easily if desired. Race of the day as always is the Churchill Downs.

Great questions we will find out soon. IMHO Englishman is definitely a very talented horse, love him, but I think a tier below Crude and the figs indicate that too. Both 2-0 but one 109TM vs 90TM & 116 ESF vs 98 ESF. Granted Englishman wasnt all out last time and will have home advantage, it’s racing and shipping is brutal so anything can happen, but I think we are talking about a diff tier of horse and not a transcendent talent like Crude. Crude is also battle tested, over came extreme adversity, took on really nice horses and blew em out while Englishman hasn’t done that yet. And judging by Crudes hellacious late figs and just how he looks to eye in works/gallop outs, I think the longer the better (atleast up to the mile). Will be intersting. Desert Gate and Solitude should be live too and I think he both are near Englishman’s level.

@abracing0 Ryan Moore has always been lauded for going inside on the US Turf as was Buick in the Breeders Cup Mile win last year. Today it was the wrong move but I'm sure the so called weak US jocks knew his very obvious plan!!

@EclassRacing @doubles_2003 The Preakness plan seems like total lunacy!! Would make more sense to target the Met Mile, obviously that would be a tough spot but at least you get a 5 week break. Do you not think Englishman has huge upside as well and could cause Crude Velocity problems in the Pat Day Mile?

Oh I see what you are saying…I think if he runs he crushes, he is just so far ahead of these other horses numbers wise if he gets his trip. But I hear what you mean about the ship and pushing on em can be tricky. The good news was he was ready to debut for a while just not a lot of races in Cali for him and Bob had to get other more expensive horses to debut first. He has been training pretty much straight thru since last May with no injuries or lay offs so base seems pretty good. The bad news is he is a little horse, only 982 lbs, and they are tough to ship and campaign hard on. They were saying the Pat Day and if he does well the Preakness? Sieze The Grey did it, but he was a much bigger horse with a lot of outs, didnt have to ship 3K miles on a plane and even after the Preakness he was fried for the Belmont. I guess they will have to let the horse decide. He did that so easily yesterday and the best part was the late pace figs & his gallop out: he is clearly crying out for more room.

@EclassRacing @doubles_2003 I'm far from convinced that running Crude Velocity in the notoriously rough Pat Day Mile will be good for the longevity of his career. 3 races in just 8 weeks could have an adverse affect + it's hardly a stallion making race!! Horse is super talented no doubt.

@alsilvo @doubles_2003 Still think he gets crushed in the Pat Day? 🤔 Those were OLDER males mind you, some competed in Grade Ones. He did not even try and still ran faster than any horse recently - a second faster than his 101TM last out without trying 🤣

@EclassRacing @doubles_2003 Pat Day Mile would be a total disaster for him. A nice allowance win next would be great then assess. Haskell is the option if breaking forwardly on second start and dominant over 7 furlongs or further.

The Jerkens is always on the table, but did you see that gallop out after that trip? 😱 He can definitely go a mile, maybe even more. 🧐 He aint a big horse but is a clone of War Admiral physically, and he also comes from the Legendary Pocahontas family; the OG large heart family which recently saw even “miler bred” Authentic even get 10F. We don’t know much about Beau Liam as he had a few races & was retired, but Beau Liam has a routers family and is nicked up just like Arrogate with the UBS x Forty Niner x Deputy Minister. Liam’s Map only G2 12F winner was on the Lemon Drop Kid cross too, just like Crude has. While Unbridled Song also has 2 G1 winner & 1 champion on the Belmont winning Lemon Drop Kid cross. Another cool note is his 2nd dam sire was the full brother to Shared Belief’s dam as well, who this smaller black colt reminds me of too.

@doubles_2003 No, I was in the process and it got cut but clearly some shrewdies hit the jackpot!! With all the speed in the race CW could go off fav as NS + SD are both speedsters and race hopefully sets up perfectly. CW been working with Bendoog as well and coming out on top 👍

@Tony_Nwk @RacingPost Hopeless 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Ka Ying Rising is so far superior to any Euro sprinter it's embarrassing!! Royal Ascot has zero attraction for top World horses as the money is so dismal + Saudi Cup, Dubai World Cup, Breeders Cup, Everest etc are way better race meets in today's world.

Ka Ying Rising may have been Royal Ascot's target horse for 2026 but Zac Purton has dismissed any prospect of the superstar sprinter running at the royal meeting, describing the idea as “hopeless” due to British prize-money levels Read with Racing Post+ 👇

@keenelandlefty Never heard such utter rubbish. Sovereignty would've finished 4th in that Classic and been majorly exposed as a massively overrated 3 year old. One big fig beating the mighty Bracket Buster in the worst Travers in history!!

@PulpPimp I am from the UK and hate UK / Irish racing. Just a total lack of information +regularly when a horse wins the trainer states it's been working great. But in the UK you get zero workout info. Studied US horses for years but it's a constant learning curve.

@PulpPimp @helloleo1983 @missmaryeliza Grow up mate seriously. A fully fit Nysos would've won the Classic anyway if he'd made the Pacific Classic. Citizen Bull ran a ridiculous race tonight and an unfit Nysos still got him. Rest miles behind....

@helloleo1983 @alsilvo @missmaryeliza i bet Japanese races on a nightly basis. I'm happier for them than any of you, that's for sure. They breed thier horses like we used to do, not the speed centric "thing" it's become now. It's why I loved SL. He's a throwback.
