In this present crisis, the American people are not the solution to our problem; the American people are the problem.

@_fat_ugly_rat_ no one rly expected cornyn to do as well as he did in the first election. wouldn’t be all that shocking if he managed to pull it off

Tbh I don't really feel like Paxton has the runoff completely locked down yet. Cornyn's best precincts are running a pretty insane turnout advantage rn I think he still has a path, its a *very* narrow and unlikely path, but I don't think Paxton is 100% safe quite yet.

A R who’d vote against Ken Paxton or a D who’d vote against Graham Platner are both very honorable, but also very stupid. Unilateral disarmament is dumb in this day and age.

@alt_ccc Aren't they a relic of Jim Crow where they were "invented" to ensure blacks couldn't win

Primary runoffs are a thing I think the South does right. You shouldn’t get nominated just because low 30s % of the electorate voted for you in a race with seven different candidates.

@NeoliberArg Bardella is gonna be elected on populist rhetoric and see his approval fall under 30% in the first semester after he pivots to austerity like he intends to

One thing that shouldn’t be underestimated is how much Democrat primary voters love doctors. This includes Amy Acton, Adam Hamaway, Nirav Shah, Amy Acton, etc.

it's genuinely crazy that Elon got free reign to do the exact thing that every "just cut spending" dipshit has wanted to do for decades, it failed catastrophically, and they're still running the exact same script like nothing happened
tae kim@firstadopter

Jeff Bezos: "Any corporate or Amazon CFO could find 3% (to cut) in Federal budget on a Tuesday afternoon" to fund zero taxes for bottom half/poor. "This is a skills issue" calling out administration and management incompetence in Federal government and local NYC city school system (He is also calling for higher wages for teachers while cutting outlandish admin budget)

@alt_ccc He confirmed RFK and Tulsi, and he never defended his conviction vote publicly. Had he known Trump would be reelected, he wouldn’t have voted to convict. He’s a coward just like the rest of them.

I think most Republican senators ARE profiles in cowardice but it’s not really accurate to say this about Bill Cassidy given that he cast the very most risky vote any of them ever could

i still think the euro is a bad idea, but without it they would have been WORSE. inextricably link their economy to other european countries such that they’re pretty much forced to bail you out was a genius move

Absolutely necessary for the German and French banks that made some really stupid investments that then exploited the Greeks and made the Greek people bail them out WHOLE not partially.. they got 100% of their money back and forced the Greek people to double the amount of debt the country had and Greece is still paying off that debt while the the people of Greece continue to suffer 20 years later.

@Nothingness_Mu If they had impeached him the day of or a couple days later then yeah but by the time it actually happened it was clear he wasn’t going away, even if not clear he’d run again himself

@alt_ccc Not really. He did it when it looked like Trump was at the nadir, he was 6 years away from reelection and he never had the courage to defend that vote while running for Senate.
