@orbglitt is there some physiological change that comes over someone with British citizenship that causes them to believe that Greggs products are good? Lived there 12 years. Had Greggs once. Dreadful.

Angus Taylor holds Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws from Sydney Uni. He was a Rhodes Scholar gaining a Master of Philosophy (Economics) from Oxford University. Given that record, he must be a brilliant actor to consistently come over as being as thick as two bricks.

Exiled! I've Been Forced To Leave the UK After ISIS Threat!! Please support me and my family here - urbanscoop.news/support-tommy-… Following intelligence that my name appears in an ISIS linked publication, described as the group’s equivalent to Al-Qaeda’s Inspire magazine, I've been forced to leave the United Kingdom indefinitely. Fears for my family’s safety and the risk of being targeted by extremists, remaining in the UK would endanger me those around me.

American's are the weirdest. I was just listening to an NFL podcast and the hosts were going on and on about the upcoming NFL game in Melbourne. They were opining that the teams may not be able to stay close to the ground, there may not be ovals for the teams to practice on and whether the city even has big enough hotels with enough rooms for the teams to work out of. Not even an acknowledgement the city hosts a grand slam tennis even and an F1 Grand Prix each year. Americans truly have absolutely no idea of the world outside of their country.

@GerTexan61 @AstroTerry because he isn't. I had my morning coffee in Melbourne (not the Florida version) with a fella who has withdrawn his ticket applications for him and his son along with cancelling hotels and flights. It isn't an uncommon sentiment here.

Just got a text from an Australian friend who was planning to come to the US for the World Cup. "I won't be coming to America until Trump is gone." This is a disaster for our tourist industry. Trump's descent into fascism is going to crush working Americans' pocket books.

@SophieSmith86 Move it to March 3. Australia Act (1986) severed power of UK Parliament to legislate for Australia, removed right to appeal to Privy Council. Better day for it than Federation or Australia Day.

@lucyinglis if you chatted to my brother in law after he ended up having to get a taxi from Bremen to Kiel to make his ferry after a litany of DB failures saw him returned back to Bremen, he might say that that is exactly the sort of experience one could expect on German railways.

Across multiple large datasets (Tinder, Hinge, eHarmony): 1. Men message women rated far more attractive than themselves at very high rates. 2. Men receive disproportionately low reply rates relative to where they aim. 3. Women’s mate choice is more assortative, men’s is more aspirational. This is not “women think they’re hotter than they are.” It’s “men systematically pursue far above their own desirability percentile and expect success.”

The question you should be asking is why isn’t Sudan using its natural resources to generate income to buy food to feed its people, instead of you wanting the United States to pay for everything for them. Sudan possesses several **natural resources** that could generate revenue through exports to support its population, particularly amid ongoing conflict and economic challenges. However, the civil war (ongoing since April 2023) has severely disrupted production, trade, and infrastructure, leading to economic contraction, high inflation, and widespread food insecurity. ### Key Natural Resources and Export Potential 1. **Gold** (Primary current revenue source) Sudan is one of Africa's top gold producers. Production reached a record ~64 tonnes in 2024 (up significantly from prior years despite the war), generating around $1.5–1.6 billion in legal exports. Much of this comes from artisanal and small-scale mining. Gold remains Sudan's largest export earner, with the UAE as the main buyer. However, smuggling diverts substantial amounts, reducing government revenue. 2. **Oil (Crude Petroleum)** Sudan has significant oil reserves (estimated ~1.25 billion barrels) and produces modest volumes (~70,000–100,000 barrels per day in recent years). In 2023, crude oil exports were valued at ~$1.13 billion. Production and exports have been hampered by conflict, pipeline damage (often shared with South Sudan), and underinvestment. Oil remains a key potential earner, with exports mainly to Asia (e.g., Malaysia, China). 3. **Agricultural Products** (Vast arable land and fertile Nile regions) Sudan has enormous agricultural potential, employing much of the population. Major exports include: - **Sesame seeds** (Sudan is a world leader, ~$600–700 million in recent years). - **Groundnuts (peanuts)** and other oilseeds. - **Gum arabic** (Sudan dominates global supply, used in food, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics; ~$140 million). - **Livestock** (sheep, goats, cattle; ~$900 million, mainly to Arab countries). - **Cotton** and other crops. Agriculture could feed the population and generate foreign exchange, but conflict has disrupted farming, supply chains, and led to famine in some areas. 4. **Other Minerals** Sudan has deposits of chromium, iron ore, copper, gypsum, salt, and more. These are underexploited due to instability and lack of investment, but they hold future potential. ### Challenges to Revenue Generation The ongoing conflict has caused massive economic damage: GDP contraction of ~30–40% since 2023, hyperinflation, and destruction of infrastructure. Resources like gold and agriculture provide some income, but much is disrupted or smuggled. Peace and stability are essential for sustainable exports and using revenues to feed the population. In summary, **gold**, **oil**, and **agricultural products** (especially sesame, gum arabic, and livestock) are Sudan's most viable resources for export revenue. If managed effectively in peacetime, they could significantly support food security and development.

Now the road toll is going up due to foreign drivers on our roads with no skills or understanding of the road rules, I’ll be driving my kids in the safest, biggest car I can afford Also, despite the Teal insistence on bikes & cars sharing the road, a city like Sydney is not built to accommodate cyclists - increasingly perilous due to cramming in millions of people, narrow/old & often windy roads & streets due to the harbour terrain

Large SUVs and utes are 82% more likely to kill children in collisions- 44% more likely to kill adult pedestrians or cyclists. They damage our roads and add to air pollution, harming our health. There’s twice as many utes as tradies in Australia. We need remove the luxury car tax exemption which incentivises people to buy megautes instead of safer, cleaner smaller cars and SUVs. theage.com.au/national/victo…
