@BigBearKentlaar The amazing thing is “addressing trossard on Pablo as a moot point” - not only is it a foul full stop, it also directly affects Pablo’s contact with the keeper.

Just watched the Mic’d Up of the VAR from the West Ham Arsenal game. Addressed Trossard on Pablo is a moot point, confirmed Rice on Mavropanos is likely a foul but the Raya foul happens first. What concerns me is they’ve not even looked at the shirt pull, so if they’d have given the goal then a clear factor wouldn’t have been touched on. That’s actually the scary part. They got the right decision but missed key evidence 😅

The reason the Premier League now resembles a billion-pound bar fight is because of VAR. The “high threshold” for fouls that has led to every set-piece being a melee is designed to suit VAR. VAR didn’t decide the PL title. But it now defines the league. observer.co.uk/news/sport/art…

So AVAR warned his colleagues that if the foul on Raya is given then an explanation will need to be given for everything else before it, and he was ignored. The incompetence is astounding.

West Ham vs Arsenal VAR transcript in full, via @TheSunFootball: VAR Darren England: Possible foul on keeper. Watch has gone. AVAR Akil Howson: Goal given. AR1 Dan Cook: I don’t see any foul on the goalkeeper. REF Chris Kavanagh: On-field decision is goal. VAR: Checking the on-field decision of goal. OK, let’s play it through, let’s play it through. Let’s just get a feel now. So, the keeper there… Then it’s just a shot. So, it’s literally just a possible foul on Raya, what I’m seeing in terms of that. AVAR: Yeah, and to make sure he doesn’t have it in his hand. VAR: OK, let’s get a tighter angle on the goalkeeper please. On the Arsenal goalkeeper. RO: Yeah. VAR: This one. Slow it down, frame by frame. For me, there is a foul. Potential foul with the arm. His hand is holding his arm down. That’s impactful, for me. The left arm there, is holding, is across the body. He’s across the head and he’s holding the left arm of Raya, there. Which impedes his ability to get to the ball properly. Doesn’t look that impactful from that angle. RO: I’ve got a pole cam angle. VAR: Give us pole cam. AVAR: It’s like, Raya… Because that contact we’ve got there, we’ve got… VAR: Just keep delaying. Just checking possible foul on the goalkeeper. AVAR: You’ve got that straight behind him as well, look. VAR: Yeah. RO: I’ll go back to the original angle. VAR: Yeah. But this happens before. RO: Do you want to see it at full speed? VAR: Yes please. Is it impactful on the goalkeeper that, for me. Go back to the second angle you showed me, the second angle. RO: No problem, just going to look now. AVAR: Can you do a split screen on both of them as well? VAR: This one here, this one. Yeah, give us a split screen. That one and then the first angle. RO: OK, goal line? VAR: No, sorry, this one and this one, thank you. AVAR: I don’t like Trossard not facing the ball and you’ve got… I agree, it’s impactful, it’s just everything else that’s going on as well. Let’s say we’re saying that’s a foul, then what are we saying about Trossard’s actions on the same player? What are we saying about Declan Rice behind? VAR: Yeah. He still gets a hand to the ball, doesn’t he? When he’s getting to the ball. AVAR: What’s your initial opinion as you watched it? VAR: I think, for me, we send him for an on-field review to look at the possible foul on the goalkeeper. And then we get him to look at the other incidents as well. I think that’s the best decision in terms of this. OK. Chris, I’m going to recommend an on-field review for a possible foul on the goalkeeper but there are some other incidents to look at while you’re at the monitor as well. REF: OK. VAR: So, I’m going to show you a possible foul on the goalkeeper. RO: This angle? REF: OK. VAR: The left arm of Pablo comes across Raya and holds onto the left arm of Raya as he goes to win the ball. REF: Yeah. VAR: I’m showing you that now. REF: I can see the clear holding on him across. VAR: Yeah, but then I’m just going to show you some, obviously, other angles on that incident, of players. REF: OK. AVAR: You’ve got Declan Rice and you’ve got Trossard. REF: I don’t know what you’re trying to show me, give me a clue. VAR: Trossard on Pablo. Just if you look at Trossard on Pablo. Give me a better angle on that. VAR: I’ll get you a better angle. REF: I don’t think there’s much in that at all, I’m happy with that. VAR: Yeah, OK. REF: That’s nothing. VAR: And then if you just want to consider the actions of Declan Rice on Mavropanos at the back. But the foul happens on the goalkeeper before. REF: Before it, so… After review, West Ham number… VAR: 19. REF: 19. Foul. Just confirm his number again for me. VAR: 19. VAR: Yeah, confirmed. REF: Mic open. REF: After review, West Ham number 19 commits a foul on the goalkeeper. Final decision is direct free kick.

@YankeeGunner Who's the aVAR on this? Seems to be trying his best to have the goal stand. Almost in tears at one point

@Odumodublvck_ The fact that were debating whether he’s grabbed his arms with fingers or not is exactly the reason this is insane. Interfering with the goal keeper is a foul or it isn’t - trying to split hairs over how much someone’s fingers are curled around a bicep is just laughable

@premierleague Love that an arm on a goalie is considered a key impediment that “prevents him from doing his job” but rugby tackling players is not deemed impediment enough

As much as it was wrong for Martinelli to push Bradley, u can see him scoot over back onto the pitch, with Martinelli clearly not knowing the extent of the injury, the minute the game is in, u can’t blame him for thinking Bradley was faking it cause I even thought it was cramp
H@hugoknowsball

Anyone rooting for Arsenal to win the league is an absolute nuisance to the sport. These are the same mannerless morally tapped goons ya'll want as your champions. I hope ya'll keep that in mind

Declan Rice appeared to be in visible discomfort & holding his lower back with both arms after Arsenal’s victory over West Ham. It’s understood he has been managing a minor back issue in recent weeks on top of various other niggles. ❌🤕 [@RyanTaylorSport]

We lost a league cos Aston Villa scored a corner with their player blocking Ramsdale We lost a league cos VAR forgot to draw the line for an obvious offside We lost a big game cos Brentford blocked Ramsdale leading to a Norgaard goal Arsenal fans like this one annoy me
Thomas Mlambo@thomasmlambo

As an Arsenal fan, I can't lie, we've been grappling and wrestling goalkeepers all season. I can understand why West Ham and football fans in general are angry. Plus all the other fouls in that incident.. hope we still win the league but the anger is fully justified

@albrookshawAFC This is very similar though. Not exactly identical, because that’s impossible. But it’s pretty damn close and the point is if the level of contact from Pablo on raya is a foul this is too

@AJ__SR7 Splitting hairs over “specifically grabbing the arm” is totally missing the point. If we’re calling someone grabbing an arm we should be calling the wwe stuff that’s pulled every week.

Conveniently still haven’t seen any examples of a keeper’s arm being grabbed + shirt being pulled which prevents him catching the ball ‘But but it’s the same stuff we’ve seen all season’ 😂😂

🤦‍♂️ Gabby: "Strange decision... Arsenal have scored so many goals from exactly that!" 😤 Jeff: "It's a foul, but Trossard has both arms around Pablo! Rice has both arms around Mavropanos!" Stelling and Agbonlahor react to #WHUFC v #AFC VAR controversy! 😳

Can get behind the goal being disallowed for a foul on Raya if that’s the standard applied going forward at all times. I hope every one of arsenals set pieces against Burnley and Palace go under 5 mins of VAR review to find every instance of grappling and punishes it accordingly.
