Why did I leave the IRS? In 2017, they took away my stack of rich person audits and gave me a stack of poor people audits. I couldn't stomach auditing poor people. My health collapsed. I tried to keep going, but finally after weekly hospital visits I quit. #taxtwitter

Checked my 14yo sister's phone, found her texting a 17yo. Called him, got upset, then learned they're in the same 8th-grade class. Hard to blame her, but why is a 17yo still in middle school? Seems inappropriate for the school to allow this.

@mindak67 @Steinernomics I don’t think you understand this correctly. Loan is taken out and the college is paid. The loan is held by and owed to the dept of education (fed govt). When the loan is forgiven, the balance disappears. The fed govt isn’t paying itself off for the loan, no tax per money is used

When a student loan is canceled, Treasury stops collecting principal & interest on it. That’s it. Nothing else happens and it has no discernible effect on anyone other than the borrower having more money to spend, save or invest. NO ONE ELSE PAYS FOR IT. Not you. Not me. NO ONE.

@jmbarry @Steinernomics That’s not how it works. The loans are made by the dept of education, hence the federal govt. when the loans are forgiven, the loan balance disappears. The federal govt doesn’t pay the loan off to themselves, therefore there is no taxpayer money being used.

@Steinernomics The treasury borrowed the money to loan with bonds and had companies manage the loan and collect interest on it. The debt from the government needs to be paid back to the bond holders
