Doesn't matter if that one guy drops 50, as long as you make him play alone. UM exploited that, they made him play selfish. Thats why he scored so much and the rest of Bama didnt

Am I disappointed with the outcome vs Michigan? Absolutely not. This was a matchup nightmare for Alabama. Michigan had way too much size and wore us down over time. Alabama played as good as they could and actually held their own for a while. Michigan is just the better team. Plain and simple. Congrats to Michigan.

@tylermilliken_ I’m probably in the minority but I think this team is gonna be much better than people expect and definitely better than last year. Yeah I wanted more pop but I really like the moves that have been made and the pitching staff is electric. Pitching can take you a long way.

Caleb Durbin is a solid player. Has some of the characteristics of a Nico Hoerner, but feels a tier down across the board. 5 DRS and 2 OAA at 3B in 1,060 innings. Stole 18 bags in 24 attempts. 70th percentile Sprint Speed. Doesn’t strikeout or whiff. 105 wRC+. Versatile. In a vacuum, it’s a solid deal. Red Sox got some good value back. Still don’t like this outcome as much as Plan A though (Bregman), but this is what leaning into defense looks like.

@ggeiss_mlb Issue with Hicks is he wasn’t taking to the pitching lab. He was awful when he tried it then made the comment that if he was going to pitch bad then he was going to pitch the way he wanted to. He did and he was still bad. Good riddance glad to offload him.

Overall, not a terrible move in terms of shedding some salary. I'll happily remain in the minority when I say I still believe Hicks can be a productive reliever with the right tweaks. With that being said, he was a big "IF" heading into '26... they have plenty of arms to fill that role on and off the major league roster. Reallocating his salary towards more established production is a big win. Unlike many, I never really bought into the Sandlin hype but I'm hoping he can break out in a big way. He can easily boast electric stuff but we haven't been able to see it consistently. Screams up-and-down reliever profile. Odd fit with far better talent ahead of him in Boston, so the move makes sense. His name has come up in trade talks for a bit.
