I am increasingly struck by what I’m calling the “workforceification” of pollworkers. As the voting season lengthens, fewer are working for just one day and getting paid with a stipend, like jury duty. More are being hired as temporary employees.

MD Task Force 1 (MD-TF1) deployed 3 team members to Texas in support of ongoing operations. Earlier in week, two (2) members (Communication Specialist & Division/Group Supervisor) were deployed as part of Incident Support Team (IST). On 7/11 MD-TF1 deployed one K9 search team.

Based on feedback I've received over the past couple of days, here are two tips for giving academic presentations to a general non-technical audience: (1) never use the word "significant." Period. (2) Never use a dot-whisker plot unless you are willing to explain what it means.

Armstead was a hell of a fighter. He cared deeply, about elections and the people who administer them. If anything, he seemed to relish being a lightning rod for criticism, especially when he felt it gave him an opportunity to advocate for the staff who make democracy happen. 3/4
