From Andrew Tate to sharing intimate images and pornography, young men are critical consumers of online content. There is cause for concern about the harms of misogynistic content online. But there are also reasons to be optimistic about young men. Blog: blog.aare.edu.au/promising-news…

@amandaMkeddie @stephwescott_ Yes BIG agree - it’s really important! Again, absolutely aligns with my views & research focus to date. I did a whole bit on the preface + conclusion of my 2018 book about how this should be distinguished from ‘not all men’ ideas, and iş important for gender equality 👍🏾❤️

News flash: it is dangerous and irresponsible to imply that boys in toto have rejected Tate + the manosphere. Women teachers are suffering. Manfluencers are a symptom, yes, but also an amplifier and accelerant of misogyny. It is rife, it is brazen. #believewomen

Female staff members said they were afraid of some of their students, scared to walk in the yard during breaks and had suffered gendered harassment from boys at the school where some male pupils were “idolising” the misogynist internet identity Andrew Tate.theage.com.au/national/victo…

@amandaMkeddie @stephwescott_ Not at all - counter narrative has been a focus of my masculinity work for a decade, so I’m hugely appreciative of the study. Some folks have read it to inadvertently suggest boys collectively are past Tate and others. Yet women teachers are emailing us near daily to tell us 1/2

@SteveRoberts_ @stephwescott_ Thanks Steven, our findings do not suggest young men are not influenced by Tate, they indicate a range of responses and engagements. I have also been keen over decades of work in this area to foreground potential educative spaces for gender justice. 1/2

@amandaMkeddie @stephwescott_ 2/2 about the elevation of misogyny and the connection to manosphere logics/ ideas. I am in agreement with you and Michael, as are the teachers, that it’s only a sig minority being into Tate but they make a huge difference.
