I LOVE THIS!
Port Authority of NY & NJ@PANYNJ
Leadership looks like this. A historic first: the Port Authority is now led by Kathryn Garcia, the agency’s first female Executive Director. Women also lead all five of our line departments: Aviation, Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals, World Trade Center, PATH, and Port. Here’s to the women shaping the future of our region on International Women’s Day, throughout Women’s History Month, and EVERY DAY. #IWD2026 #WHM

Structural fires caused by lithium-ion batteries have increased this year. The FDNY is reminding New Yorkers to charge and store lithium-ion batteries outside, where possible.
Doing so will help save lives. Visit on.nyc.gov/2HnpaGf for more information.

Last week, Chief of Department John Esposito, Deputy Assistant Chief Joseph Duggan, and Chief Fire Marshal Daniel Flynn traveled to California to learn more about the devastating Palisades and Eaton Fires.
They met with officials from Cal Fire and the Los Angeles Fire Department to learn about the fires and improve the FDNY’s response to large-scale incidents.

In the last few weeks the FDNY has responded to hundreds of brush fires in the five boroughs. Some have been minor, and others have risen to multiple alarm fires that threaten life and property.
Brush fires can spread quickly, fueled by dry vegetation and windy conditions. October and November have been historically dry and warm.
Here are some tips on how you can help us keep brush fires to a minimum.
- Avoid outdoor burning. This includes campfires, bonfires, and any other open flames. If you must use a grill, ensure it’s far away from dry grass and keep a bucket of water or a fire extinguisher nearby.
- Be mindful of smoking. If you smoke outdoors, always dispose of your cigarette butts and matches properly. Never toss them on the ground or out of your car window.
- When enjoying our parks, please stay on designated trails. This helps protect the surrounding vegetation and minimizes the risk of accidental fires.
- Take additional precautions when doing activities such as welding near dry grass and weeds.
