Narsimha Reddy Managing Director, Musi Riverfront Development Corporation ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ → The Gandhi Sarovar Project is currently in the planning stage. → No budget has been finalised or announced for the project. → The Government of Telangana has not issued any notification regarding land acquisition for this purpose. On February 12, 2026, the Honourable Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy sought Central approvals for: 1️⃣ Land transfers 2️⃣ Funding support for major projects, including: – Musi Rejuvenation Project – Railway corridors – Airport development initiatives The Chief Minister also assured the Centre of full cooperation and necessary land allocation from the State Government. 🗣️ Statement by Hari Chandana Hyderabad Collector ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ → The Gandhi Sarovar Project is being executed in coordination between the Government of Telangana and Government of India. → No tenders have been issued for any statue construction. → Therefore, the cost figures currently being circulated are completely false. The project cost will only be known once official tender processes are initiated. → The Government already owns over 50 acres of land under the State Tourism Department in the proposed area. → A portion of this existing government land is likely to be utilised. → There is no question of land acquisition at this stage. → Claims about relocation of families or displacement are completely false. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🌿 Gandhi Sarovar Project – Context The Gandhi Sarovar Project is proposed as part of the broader Musi River Rejuvenation initiative, aimed at: → Ecological restoration → Sustainable urban development → Riverfront improvement Approximately 100 acres have been sought for the Musi Rejuvenation Project as a whole. The Chief Minister informed the Centre that in February 1948, the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed at this historic confluence, making the site one of profound national significance.
