He came to Palace, with a small budget compared to the other English teams, he won the FA Cup, the first trophy in Palace’s history, he beat Man City to win it. You can’t fluke that, he’s a winner. He qualified them to Europa by winning the FA Cup , but they dropped to Conference league because of the multi-club ownership saga with Textor. Despite the setback, he has just won an European trophy for a South London club. In 2 years, he has changed a club’s history and won 3 trophies for them if we add the community shield. He did this while losing big players, lost his captain January, lost his best player to Arsenal in summer, lost Olise. This guy is a winner.

April 2nd, 2019. I landed in Abuja to visit my family in Kaduna. From the airport, I chartered a cab straight to Kaduna. Somewhere around Kateri village in Kagarko LGA, bandits suddenly attacked vehicles on the highway. My car was the very first at the front of the ambush. My driver wanted to stop. I shouted at him: “Keep driving!” Because then I heard bandits would take everyone except the drivers…. So maybe that was why he dint have a problem stopping. So speed was the only advantage we had. We sped past them and almost cleared one of the attackers. Then the gunshots started. Bullets flying at us repeatedly. Till today, I still cannot explain how not a single bullet touched our vehicle. Not one. The fear instantly brought back memories of the 2003 Miss World riots in Kaduna. That attack reopened an insecurity in me I thought had died years ago. When I finally got to Kaduna, my family was excited to see me alive. The next morning, I switched on the TV and watched the Kaduna state government led by El-Rufai say reports of the attack were fake news. Meanwhile, the same fake news was that over 30 passengers had been kidnapped and 3 people killed right there on the highway we escaped from. People who deny pain they know exists will always understand each other when power changes hands. Which is why, despite everything happening now between Tinubu and El-Rufai, I still believe they are birds of the same feather.
