Why the NHS is failing #826363839 1. Fragmentation of care. It’s almost impossible to read a clinical story in GP notes now. It’s messages and anima requests and “failed encounters” when someone can’t answer the phone. (1/n)

@AlanStout19 @Tomcastlehume @ianjamesparsley Alan, what I suspect we very strongly agree with each other about is that NI needs to redesign how we support people in their last decade of life - because that decade is getting harder, and our current model isn’t fit for purpose. Would love to talk to you about that.

Even taking these out of it and looking solely at life expectancy, we are worse and the gap is widening. It’s a wild stretch to suggest we’re better or even equal….

@AlanStout19 @Tomcastlehume @ianjamesparsley Of income, and much higher levels of education for young people, are probably stronger factors. I think you may have misspoke about 'people are healthier in the last 10 years of life'. I have not seen that studied.

Instead, having less income inequality, and less absolute poverty because of more redistribution

@ianjamesparsley Not what was said. He said the last 10 years of life was generally healthier. The life expectation is generally 2 years more in Ireland compared to Northern Ireland
