Goldstein's Biggest Survey - Or Tim Wilson's Biggest Data Grab? The Shadow Treasurer is at it again. Buried on the back page of Tim Wilson's "community survey" sent to every Goldstein household this week: Which political party do you ALWAYS support? That is not a community consultation question. That is a voter database. Sent from a taxpayer-funded address. With no privacy policy. For the third time. ❌ 2019 - petition data transferred to a commercial fund manager. OAIC investigated. ❌ 2026 - pre-ticked consent boxes you couldn't untick. OAIC and ACMA notified. ❌ 2026 - this survey. Your name. Address. Phone. Children's schools. Political identity. A $100 gift card. A proper survey invites the community to inform the politician with balanced questions, neutral options, and published results. This one has advocacy-framed questions designed to produce predetermined answers and builds a campaign database in the process. The shadow treasurer's job is to scrutinise the budget, cost alternative policies, and prepare to govern. Not to build a voter database on taxpayer funds. This is not the work of a shadow treasurer. This is the work of a campaign operative who happens to hold the title. @Peter_Fitz I was at Syd Uni at the same time as Tony, 76 - 79. Didn't know of him, but what struck me in my first week there, as a country boy, was how downright nasty and disrespectful student politicians were. I steered clear, in honour of Gough.
