Just had a few days of meetings at the RAF College at Cranwell. It brought back memories of me sitting in front of College Hall almost 3 decades ago. Jeepers I am really that old. ☹️ Can I ask… if you could volunteer to be part of a flying squadron and help keep aircraft in the air, would you be able to give a few days a month to do so ?

@pinstripedline Me too! I think it was in the Channel on the Malcolm Miller. Still remember climbing up to the crows nest in Southampton Harbour to get us used to heights!!

Interesting news - I recall spending time at sea on an STA tall ship many years ago. Turns out the Channel, in Nov, in a Force 10 sea state is a good way to be introduced to what colour your stomach bile looks like...

@scottiebateman @Brabazon2 I didn’t get a degree before joining up but since then have a BSc in International Studies, PG Cert and a Masters. All partly (or fully) funded by the military.

Today, I have the honour of visiting Cranfield University as a guest of @Brabazon2, and I’m genuinely excited. For those who don’t know, Cranfield is no ordinary university. It’s postgraduate-only, has its own airport and aircraft, and is world-renowned for aviation and aerospace research. It’s where the future of flight is being designed, tested, and launched. People travel from across the globe to be part of it. Now, I’ll admit something… one of my life regrets is that I never went to university. It didn’t stop my career, but I often wonder what extra doors a degree might have opened. Too late for this old dog to learn new tricks? Maybe! But what drives me now is inspiring the next generation of people who’ll love and work in aerospace, and who will go on to do incredible things. Particularly through my volunteer role @aircadets and on this platform and instagram. So I’m curious… 👉 Did your degree really give you the edge? 👉 Or, like me, did you find another way around the runway? Two weeks today I will hand over command of Essex Wing, to take up a new role. It's been a hugely busy, rewarding tour and I've had the privilege to work with so many fantastic cadets and CFAV. I'm going to miss it so much but a new adventure looms!

9th position secured at the Euro Champs Div 1 event by Great Britain U18s with a 12-14 (1-3, 3-3, 5-4, 3-4) win over Austria . Many thanks to Head Coach Tom Wall, Shaun Hill, Anne-Marie Houghton and Steve Kinloch, and all the travelling supporters in Portugal and back home.

So proud of the team and how they bounced back. 9-10 play off tomorrow.

Water polo is hard. We’re disappointed but we go again today.

A hard fought match against tough opponents. Played in good spirits and could have gone either way really. The fact we are disappointed means we did feel we could have done better. We go again tomorrow all still to play for.
