Couldn't work out why my phone kept coming up with Leslie Nielsen quotes. Then I realised I'd left it on Airplane mode.

@modernheroestv I had a similar issue in a call centre where a local agreement meant being "on time" meant being "in the building" at the start of the shift. Didn't matter where in the building. Totally unmanageable.

Nice to see the CWU as relevant as ever. They were the union when I worked for a large mobile network’s call centre many years ago. During a recruitment presentation a concern was expressed about the need to be online taking calls at the exact second your shift started or face penalties which realistically meant 15-20 mins unpaid work every day The response? “I don’t know what it is about you young people always rushing around, I’m always at my work at least half an hour early”

@GriftReport 11.59pm the day before a 16th birthday - cannot be trusted to use social media responsibly or without being corrupted. 12.01am - yay! You're responsible enough to vote. That 2 minutes is going to be a busy time....

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is asked by a reporter how is it going to work with banning under 16s from social media and letting 16 year olds vote as most from opinions from social media etc His answer is disturbing 😳

@Helen_Barnard Yep. Rather than a graceful, cohesive, technically precise routine, it's now just a lot of extreme hit or miss moves interspersed with a bit of fragmented choreography. The scoring system needs a shake-up.

I have never seen so many top figure skaters fall over so much, what is happening? Is it because they’re all now pushing for quads and that’s just pushing beyond what they can deliver? #WinterOlympics

@FightingOnFilm "The Gift Horse" No question. Glory At Sea is a bland title. Also totally misleading. The ship didn't have any glory at sea hence the suicide mission redemption story 🤷‍♂️

@FightingOnFilm Although it's light on FoF action, The Caine Mutiny hooks me every time it's on. Bogart at his best.

Keir turned around the Labour Party after one of our worst defeats in 2019. He won a huge mandate at the last general election and is leading a government that is delivering on our promise of change to the British public. Nothing should distract from that.

Keir Starmer won a massive mandate 18 months ago, for five years to deliver on Labour’s manifesto that we all stood on. We should let nothing distract us from our mission to change Britain and we support the Prime Minister in doing that.

The British public gave Keir a huge mandate only 18 months ago. They wanted a Labour government. They want us to deliver the change we promised. They expect us to get on with the job. The PM has my fullest support in leading this government and this country.

@WG_RumblePants Fantastic match. But only because of the awful decision to bat first. Most upsets happen when the underdogs are chasing. Seems bizarre (or arrogant) for Brook to open the door like that.

If Nepal had won that, it would actually have been pretty amusing. I do like an upset. It’s great for cricket to see them run England so close. I hope they do really well in this competition. Like it or loathe it, as a format, T20 is the game’s great leveller 🇳🇵

@SamJRushworth @RachelReevesMP You cant base a sound economic policy by making whichever chart currently looks the best your priority. That's just the worst kind of spin that we're now all wise to. Try looking at the overall picture and not cherry-picking.

More good economic news. The OBR said falling productivity is the biggest challenge holding back growth. @RachelReevesMP made productivity a priority. It's great to see results so soon...

Good news about the British economy?! UK productivity – how much the economy produces per hour worked – grew more in the past year than in the previous seven years combined. In our latest Substack, Research Director @GregoryThwaites takes a closer look 📈 buff.ly/vdV5Vka

@englandcricket @T20WorldCup Handed them the initiative by batting first. Ludicrous decision for a side that loves to chase. Pitch never likely to deteriorate to make batting 2nd an issue. Never ever ever let underdogs do the chasing!
