@MrsCMFrancis Same! I made chicken burrito bowls and total spent was less than $15. I fed 2 adults, 2 teens, and 2 kids, with 2 servings of leftovers for tomorrow's lunch.

@AngMK7 @clharrington024 This is why I stopped giving my kids money for book fairs. They inevitably come home with junk, or some dreadful book they wanted only because it had some bauble attached.

@2wrwtprq57a @gregNEVERchills And, contrary to what many otherwise well-meaning adults believe, you can raise boys who love to read while avoiding any of those types of books. I am raising two of them.

@gregNEVERchills Unfortunately rather than being a bridge to better (real) books they often become the only thing that child wants to ready. We will never introduce stuff like diary of a wimpy kid or big Nate to our younger kids. They might as well watch tv or play video games-equally edifying.

My biggest issue with the book fairs is the number of graphic novels. The kids need more books with words, not less. I understand the need for graphic novels to bridge the gap for kids who don’t like reading. But those should be in addition to books with words, not replacing

So, I don’t know when it happened or why, but there’s an entire subset of public servant that sees crime as nothing but a common, regrettable nuisance and not an existential threat to the common good and order.

@civilagain @andreavhowe This is the type of recipe that a busy person can make quickly.l and easily. The whole conversation is about people who can't find the time to cook and you want them simmering meat on the stove for hours 🙄 Good luck getting people who dont cook at all to cook that sort of thing!

As a food blogger and content creator I constantly hear how unapproachable recipes are on social media but y’all just need to stop following the young TikTok accounts who are going for virality and just follow a bunch of middle aged moms who’ve raised kids and not lost their minds. This is what I’m pushing on my audience. Canned potatoes and tomatoes with some beef
Deva Hazarika@devahaz

Some reasons why cooking is overwhelming for many: -To cook each cuisine requires different base set of spices, staples, etc -Popular recipes often include obscure, expensive ingredients -Purchasing exact item amts often not possible -Utilizing rest of perishable food challenging

@andreavhowe This is not a meal you make with steak. None of this goes together. The potatoes alone will need more time. This is wrong. Learn how to make an Irish stew and go from there.

@aBowTiedGiraffe @Cary_Bleasdale @JoeLongBalls The person spending $28 on lunch is way more likely to be obese in a year than someone who eats pbj daily. Sure, theres healthier options, but thats not the reason people are spending $28 on lunch.

@gabriella_15401 @ModerateNYArgue @DocLibertarian @FiSurgi I can definitely believe a black candidate may be more qualified in many cases. But not to the point that they are 29 times more likely to have better non-quantitative qualifications than Asians. Id have to be a major racist to believe that.

@amick64 @ModerateNYArgue @DocLibertarian @FiSurgi How can I, or anyone, answer that question when we dont know what their application says, Black or Asian. Like I've said, you all cannot fathom that a Black person would be more qualified than an Asian.

Noticing a distinct and necessary change in homeschool mom content lately. For a long time, it’s been sliding because of aesthetics / social media towards delight learning, without any semblance of rigor. Content creators are starting to message differently lately. Good.

@Myfriendsaraha @bethanyshondark I think the best thing i ever did as a homeschool mom was read heavily from the Homeschool Recovery forum on reddit at the beginning of our homeschool journey. It's made me be really strict with myself about consistency and accurately assessing progress.

@bethanyshondark We are 2nd gen homeschoolers and this bothers me. I see 1st gen who are falling off the Charlotte mason deep end. I know plenty of homeschool graduates who didn’t get the education they needed and I see what it looks like at age 40. Not pretty.

@ArtemisConsort Everyone talking about the sex bias and blowing right past the "non-English speaking backgrounds." In my experience, that's been the biggest source of frustration with professors since the 80s.

Really impressive that these researchers found an objective way to measure professor quality, so they could prove higher ratings for men are due to bias. What’s that? They just assumed it’s bias? Oh.

@gabriella_15401 @DocLibertarian @FiSurgi I want you to lay out why they’re truly exceptional even though their grades are the same as a far bigger group of Asians (who are just as likely to be exceptional). I think it’s fair to assume they all have the same chance to be exceptional outside of grades/scores

@womenonthemove1 @danibrio No, they are generally not. It's the norm in specialty clinics at my local academic hospital that the default is a new patient sees the NP or PA unless they make a fuss and demand to see an MD. A lot of people dont even know they can make that request.

This is why claims that we can remove trans-identified males from women's sports and women's prisons while continuing to uphold "trans rights" are so nonsensical. There is no middle ground. AB Hernandez is not a "real girl." AB Hernandez is a boy. He doesn't belong in girls sports because he is not a girl. The fact of his sex resolves every question and in a way that applies in all other scenarios where sex matters, which is every scenario where access is determined by one's sex or where classification by sex is relevant. "Trans rights" rejects this reality based premise. "Trans rights" are the right for any man to be granted an unchallengeable right to violate sex-based boundaries based on a claim to be a woman because saying you are a woman is what makes you a woman. This is how the trans rights movement and the ruling institutions that act in service of the movement have constructed the claim and they have done it in response to a real exigency that cannot be evaded and cannot be altered. AB Hernandez is a "real girl" or he is actually a boy. The law cannot operate in any other way. It's why there are boys in your daughter's bathroom, boys winning state championships in girls sports, and it's why there are male rapists and murderers in women's prisons across the Anglosphere. This is what trans rights are. No one has attempted to create a different framework because no other framework is possible in practice. What was instead done is to embed a falsehood into language and law and try to stigmatize and punish those who won't collude with it. It cannot work in any society that remains liberal and pluralistic. It can only work in a totalitarian social justice theocracy. The agenda must be refused in full.
Wesley Yang tweet media
Jennifer Sey@JenniferSey

The mom of AB Hernandez and the media are now complaining that he had to share his first with actual girls. To everyone who says "give them their own category" - they don't want it. They want ours. The theft is the point. These people believe men make better women. That is why they say stupid shit like "Hunter Schafer is the most beautiful woman in the world" and "How dare they make AB share?" Never give an inch.

@policywishes The best thing that ever happened to me was going to a premed society meeting on women in medicine/work life balance. I left knowing that was not the kind of future I wanted. There's been a few times I wished I had the titles to feed my ego, but I'm glad I didn't go that route.

I've never understood why we give so many seats to women in med school. If we are arguing over who is best to serve and fighting over spots why give them to women where 40% quit or go part time 6 years after residency? Women have been the primary beneficiary of affirmative action
Thanatos Savehn@ThanatosSavehn

@FamedCelebrity To increase girlboss MDs we cut prerequisites (Brown axed org chem and calc) then cut and cut again residents’ hours. Yet today 1-in-9 girlboss MDs never see a patient, 2/3 are gone within 10 yrs and the average age physicians quit practice is down to …

@policywishes Also wild that they cut org chem and calc as prerequisites. I took both in 2001, even though I had AP credit for calc and didn't need it for my major because I knew I'd need it for med school. I wonder when that change happened.

@policywishes It's kind of wild to me how many women do this. I was on track for med school until I realized I really wanted to option of being home with kids when I had them. Going through that much education and debt seemed like a poor choice for my own goals in life.

This is really important. Language is everything and activist language that disguises men is the root cause. There are women and there are men and these words have NOTHING to do with identity.
Sall Grover@salltweets

“The decision is constantly referring to c!sgender & transgender. Those words don't appear in the Sex Discrimination Act…So when the judges say the law made them do this, they’re lying. It is the activist AHRC's interpretation of the Sex Discrimination Act that men can be women”

Girl was uncomfortable sharing a room w a trans girl, the school says okay and moves her to another room away from the trans kid respecting her wishes and boundaries. Parents sue anyways?? Tf do these people want? “Kids deserve privacy” SHE GOT THE PRIVACY SHE WANTED.
