The entire dating industry is worth less than mowing grass and dog food.
Dating apps have been around for over a decade. Hundreds of millions of people have swiped. Dating is in every movie, every dinner table conversation, every group chat.
Everyone cares about it.
And the whole industry? is just 10 billion dollars.
Something every human being on earth cares about, is a smaller industry than mowing grass and feeding dogs.
Something's clearly broken.
And I think it's the product. Dating apps don't sell you outcomes. They sell engagement.
Roses, super likes, boosts, premium. Every single way they make money is designed to keep you in the app.
Not get you into a relationship.
You want to find someone and get out.
They want you to stay and keep paying.
And people feel it.
You can't put your finger on it but there's this sense of “this app doesn't actually want me to win?”
But here's the thing, the real ceiling isn't the people who leave.
It's the people who never even showed up.
The most intentional people looked at a photo-first swiping app and went "nah, this isn't for me."
Dating apps built a product for browsing.
The people who actually wanted something real never walked in.
That's not a $10 billion industry with a ceiling.
That's a $100 billion industry nobody's unlocked yet.
@heywavelength is for people who never believed that a genuine relationship can be formed through a swipe based dating app.

Wavelength is live and I need everyone to STOP what they’re doing right now
Vinit Sarode@vinitsarode_
Wavelength app is finally live. In December, we built an app-less experience. Chat based, completely scrappy. Whatsapp blocked 80% of our messages, emails went to spam. We were literally texting people manually to tell them they had a match. And it still worked. We matched about 250 couples and people went on real dates. Then we rebuilt everything voice first. You talk to Wave, she listens, questions, and matches you based on what she actually hears. Efficacy and satisfaction went up by 6x. Now our app can actually ping you when your match is ready and ask how your date went. Love is coming to Bangalore.
