@ArtCandee You are wrong. The foreign business paid the tariffs. The domestic company did not.

My boyfriend of 2 years cheated on me.
When I wanted to break up, my boyfriend’s mother called.
“I don’t want you to break up with my son.”
“Why?”
“Because he can’t manage without you.”
“He cheated on me.”
“I know.”
“You’re calling even though you know?”
“I scolded my son.”
“That’s it?”
“I’ll make him apologize to you.”
“Even if he apologizes, I’ll still break up.”
There was a brief silence.
“I want you to meet once.”
“With my boyfriend?”
“With me.”
The next day, my boyfriend’s mother and I met up.
We sat across from each other at a cafe.
“I’m not going to take my son’s side.”
“Then why did you want to meet?”
“To apologize to you.”
“You don’t need to apologize.”
“I do.”
The woman lowered her head.
“It’s my fault for raising my son to be this kind of person.”
After listening to the rest, my decision to break up was shaken a little.

@banarasipaann Dk man. In among even smaller siblings, aged 2-3 yrs apart this normally happens in my family. No one makes a fuss. Elder lovingly accommodates the younger ones, perhaps that is always the idea.
He wasn't even touching 'her' hand, yet se behaved very un-big sis like.

being rude. And I just stood there for a second, processing that, because it’s interesting how quickly things get flipped when you enforce a boundary.
If I had reacted differently, if I had been louder, more forceful, or visibly upset, I already know how that would’ve been framed too. Probably not in my favor. It sometimes feels like there’s a very narrow space women are expected to exist in, polite enough to be approachable, but not “too much” when they’re protecting themselves or their children.
What really stood out to me, though, was the lack of respect for the word “no.”
It wasn’t just me saying it. My baby said it too. Twice. And still, there was an attempt to push past it like it didn’t count.
And that’s the part that disturbs me.

My daughter (3yo) and I were walking through an aisle when an older man approached us.
He was smiling and seemed friendly enough at first. Without much conversation, he pulled out a lollipop and tried to offer it directly to her.
Before my toddler could even react, I calmly said, “No, thank you.” My daughter also declined immediately, which honestly made me feel a little proud in the moment. She’s learning to respond the same way I do.
But instead of accepting that, he kept going. He leaned in again, still trying to hand it to her, speaking to her directly like I hadn’t just said “No” politely. It wasn’t aggressive, but it also wasn’t respectful of the boundary that had already been set.
So I stepped in more firmly. I took the lollipop from his hand, repeated, “No, thank you,” and placed it on a nearby counter. I didn’t raise my voice, I didn’t make a scene, I just made it very clear that the answer wasn’t changing.
And that’s when the tone shifted. He said I was…
