AI, even in 2026, still can't do faces all that well. This is my main criticism of the Stellar Blade Blood Rain music video they produced with AI. Too many face close-ups that are uncomfortable to look at. This problem is compounded when you have an AI model that magnifies the classic problem of both over-detailing and unnatural facial animations and expressions. It really highlights the problem, especially when the face changes throughout the music video in subtle ways that add to the creepy factor. The ear changes from scene to scene, skin pore density changes, freckles are in different spots, mouth proportions shift, and even the eyes and the nose change shape... The human eye and the brain are hyper-tuned to detect faces, and even little tiny millimeter-level deviations cause an uncomfortable feeling that's hard to describe... even if the face from objective standards looks pretty. Then there is the lip-syncing animation as she sings... just totally weird. That's okay for small time AI creators making videos for fun. But I think a lot of people expect better from a large game studio. Is it better than nothing? Yeah. There are a lot of parts of it that I enjoyed... But all they did was just hand over ammo to the AI haters to start their next anti-AI derangement campaign.
