This is now the second American shot by Israel at these protests in recent months - this time fatally shot in the head with live ammunition. Expansionist escalation in the West Bank is increasing. Under the current regime, there’s likely to be even less accountability than before

I have multiple friends & family - from Israel & North America - who have participated in weekly peaceful protests to protect Palestinian West Bank villages from displacement by illegal settlements. In theory, their presence is intended to discourage abuse by settlers & the IDF.

In a story filled with awful facts this one gave me a hollow feeling: Private contractors who run youth detention centres don’t share records with government? “For its contracted facilities, the ministry further said it did not have “custody or control” of those records.”

After 4 days of frozen vegetables and agony, I can do a sit-up style motion from lying flat to sitting up without any pain, so I am concluding that whatever it was, it was not broken. Thank goodness.

I wish someone warned me that my late 30s would be when my body randomly betrays me because I genuinely cannot tell whether I pulled a muscle under my ribs or whether I somehow broke a rib & the internet says that, either way, the treatment is Tylenol & frozen vegetables.

@tonya_ck @Breanna_Needham When one of my neighbours tried to report the power outage on our block, things were so bad that the waiting time *just to submit an outage report online* was close to an hour.

@tonya_ck @Breanna_Needham I worked from home to avoid the rain/floods, but then ironically I had to Uber to the office after noon because the power went down & took my internet with it. Last I checked, power won’t be restored until 10 or 11 pm so I’ll stay at the office until then, I guess?

Toronto sits in a basin surrounded by the Greenbelt, a system of woods and wetlands that perform a crucial role of absorbing water. The Ontario government recently voted to open them up to development, paving them over, giving rainfall nowhere to go.
It's only gonna get worse.

In the middle of this massive thunderstorm, my entire building just spontaneously lost power - as did the corner store next door AND the grocery store across the street, so I assume this means multiple city blocks have all lost electricity.

Working late and forgot to bring extra insulin to the office with me, so I just spent 30 minutes in the humidity walking to 3 different downtown pharmacies until one of them had my type of insulin. On the bright side, I think this means I still fit a workout into my schedule.

A Fulton County sheriff’s officer is taking Brian Steel into custody after he takes off his suit jacket and tie. Steel protests one more time for an additional mistrial motion related to denial of the right to counsel before he’s removed from Judge Glanville’s courtroom.
