Saint Anselm Field Hockey, who won the national title in 2024 after a fantastic run as a 7 seed in an 8 team field now will play in 28 team fields if they want to win it again (win 4 or 5 gms instead of 3).
D3 FH is also more variable in terms of surface (Astro vs. Field Turf).

The NE10 continues to shrink - down to 9 schools in ‘27-28, as Saint Anselm, a respected D2 program whose men’s hoops team just won the conference, announces a move to Div. III. The NE10 was at 14 teams in ‘21-22. It has lost: Stonehill, Le Moyne, St. Rose, New Haven, & St A’s.

With Matthew Wilde returning to RIT after a year at UMass, I am reminded of New Haven baseball’s Rob Taylor who spent 4 years at New Haven then a year at Stony Brook before going back. Would love to compile a list of multi stint college athletes. Anyone know any others?

AIC has hired RJ Evans as its new Men’s Basketball head coach.
Evans comes over from a lead assistant post at Northern Kentucky, going 10-10 in the Horizon Lg but surged to make the Horizon semis last year.

@ScoringChanges @HailStateBB @BaseballUGA Is there a way to differentiate “straight double play” vs “grounded into double play” in a stat software such as Presto? Are you saying that the defense gets credit with a DP but the batter does not?

Just checked and this was scored as a ground into double play by @HailStateBB against @BaseballUGA.
The correct ruling statistically is this is just a straight double play, and the batter should not be credited with grounding into a double play. This is the same rule in college as it is in MLB/MiLB

@philgpbp Plus that ends up letting me see if a someone is an unusual spot & give background on it, for instance someone taking a face off after the center gets kicked out, I can let the audience know how the replacement has historically been, whether this year or throughout their career.

@philgpbp Microsoft Excel - copy and paste stats & align them so I can just “plug and chug” them in to my notes. What ends up happening is something always catches my eye but I don’t lose too much time.
I’ve also been using it to tabulate career stats. Saves hours. All in one spot.
