After all, three-quarters of the Louisiana GOP vote did go against Cassidy. Even more demonstrative is the fact that Cassidy didn’t just lose to Trump’s endorsed candidate, U.S. Rep. Julia Letlow, but he was also bested by non-Trump-endorsed John Fleming.
One way to see that is Cassidy didn’t just lose the hard-core Trump voters but the majority of Louisiana Republicans who weren’t swayed by Trump’s endorsement.

There is a growing and worrying market for fake quotes. I have friends who have tattooed their backs with a quote attributed to Diego Armando Maradona, believing it comes from Aristotle. And it’s a plague that is completely out of control. So much so that there are countless fake quotes that are better than the originals, and that reveal truths their supposed authors could never have reached. As a journalist, I like to contribute to the chaos . . .

Why is any of this important? Because if Trump is succeeded by a more conventional foreign policy president — Republican or Democrat — America First will wither on the vine, and the new administration will be staffed by people who think as the CFR experts noted above. That would gradually undo all of Trump’s foreign policy accomplishments and return to power the “geniuses."
