I’m glad the SHA conversation is back. Government bloggers have been telling me I’m avoiding SHA when it’ll cover my expenses so that it won’t fit my agenda. Now, I’ve tried registering for SHA since yesterday and it’s disastrous. I’ve given it so many opportunities as you see below. The *147# option does not work technical error. I managed to register on their website and had to use my laptop it refused on my phone. I’ve been trying to pay using all options!!! So many times. The 200222 paybill does not work. I’ve called them through 147 and boy they’re not picking up wasting my credit with that stupid song. What’s seriously wrong with these people? Why do they keep lying like this? At the expense of people’s lives who’re actually stuck at the hospitals desperately wanting things to work. Ffs!

THE ROT AT KeRRA: Why Kenyans Should Be Worried About the DG Recruitment KeRRA recently advertised 18 senior positions including the Director General role. The original deadline was 13th January 2026. Then, mysteriously, it was extended to 20th January. No explanation. Who was this extension meant to accommodate? Whose late application needed to sneak in? But the deadline drama is just the tip of the iceberg. THE CHAIRMAN'S BAGGAGE Let's talk about Board Chairman Anthony Mwaura. This is a man who was charged alongside Mike Sonko and 16 others for allegedly embezzling Sh357 million from Nairobi County through his companies Hardi Enterprises and Toddy Civil Engineering. The charges? Conspiracy to commit corruption, money laundering, conflict of interest, and unlawful acquisition of public property. Yes, he was acquitted in February 2024. But he wasn't cleared because he was innocent. The prosecution simply failed to show up. The magistrate had previously blasted the DPP's office for "tactfully absconding the case" through endless adjournments via text messages. The court had earlier refused to drop charges against Mwaura, noting he was "the main suspect." It gets worse. In July 2024, the High Court nullified Mwaura's appointment as KRA Chairman, calling it "illegal" because he was appointed while facing corruption charges. Justice Gikonyo termed his defense arguments "quite unfortunate and arrogant" and an "indictment of insensitivity towards national values and integrity." What happened next? Instead of being sent home, Mwaura was quietly reassigned to chair KeRRA in December 2024. Here's the conflict of interest nobody is talking about: Mwaura owns construction companies that bid for government road contracts. He now chairs an agency that awards road construction tenders. Connect the dots. THE ACTING DG PROBLEM Eng. Jackson Magondu has been Acting DG since 11th July 2025. That's over six months. Section 34(3) of the Public Service Commission Act is clear: acting appointments cannot exceed six months. Magondu is in office illegally. Sources indicate he may be applying for the same DG position he's currently acting in. This is a fundamental conflict of interest. How can someone who controls the organization's operations, timelines, and influences recruitment criteria also be a candidate? Policy doesn't allow this. He should step aside. THE UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI QUESTION The Board has engaged University of Nairobi consultants to handle the DG recruitment. My sources indicate Chairman Mwaura has been canvassing behind the scenes, engaging these consultants privately. If true, this corrupts the entire process. The University of Nairobi must protect its institutional integrity. The consulting team must adhere strictly to their contractual terms and resist any private interference. Their reputation is on the line. THE BIGGER PICTURE KeRRA is drowning in corruption. EACC has recommended prosecutions worth Ksh 2.048 billion against various officials. A senior accountant was recently charged for steering Sh133 million in contracts to family companies. Another Kajiado office case involves Sh38.6 million. Former DG Philemon Kandie resigned in July 2025 amid allegations of misusing Sh4.6 billion. This is the institution now recruiting its next leader under a chairman with corruption baggage and an acting DG who's overstayed his legal welcome. WHAT MUST HAPPEN Kenya's rural roads affect millions. We deserve a DG of unquestionable integrity, not one emerging from a compromised process. The EACC must monitor this recruitment. Parliament must demand answers. The University of Nairobi must stand firm. If Magondu wants the job, he should step aside first. If Mwaura cannot guarantee a clean process, he should recuse himself. Kenyans are watching.
