Through a range of genetic, microbiological, biochemical, and biophysical assays we discovered that the Bacillus subtilis protein YjbA functions as a novel adaptor for the ClpCP protease during spore development.

Rivka (@rli22) and I met in 2001 in Pam Silver’s lab and have been collaborating ever since we both became PIs at @kclchemistry (Rivka) and @mtholyoke (me). We’ve published together before but are thrilled to share our big story that goes back a decade!

So Mom had a bad fall yesterday and has a brain bleed that I’m told she won’t recover from. She has a DNR order in place and arrived at the hospital unresponsive so we are just waiting now. I’m trying to find solace in her well-lived 96 yr long life 💔
