BREAKING: California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer horrifies MAGA world by calling for ICE agents to be treated like "the mob" with prosecutions of foot soldiers and leadership — as well as the total abolishment of the agency. And it gets so much better... "The true test of a leader is not who they disparage and attack, but who they defend and uplift. Donald Trump attacks and robs the most vulnerable in our society, while protecting and enriching the most powerful," Steyer wrote in a policy statement on X. With the withdrawal of Eric Swalwell from the race due to horrifying allegations of sexual misconduct and rape, Steyer has rocketed into the frontrunner position. As a billionaire, Steyer knows that he has to burnish his progressive credentials to appeal to a Democratic Party that is correctly, inherently suspicious of his class. In order to do that, he has come out swinging in incredible fashion. "I’ve made it clear: ICE must be abolished. ICE is acting like a criminal organization, carrying out indiscriminate racial profiling and using violence, intimidation, terrorism, and the murder of Americans to extend Trump’s rule by fear," Steyer wrote. This represents an accurate assessment of ICE. It's functioning not as a law enforcement agency, but as a paramilitary force dedicated to carrying out Trump's personal political agenda. These agents are murdering innocent Americans in the streets, sexually abusing migrants, and violating every civil right imaginable. They must be held accountable. Steyer went on to say that Democrats must have the courage to "go after both their agents on the streets and their leadership within the Department of Homeland Security." "How do we do this? The same way we took on the mob. Put ICE agents and their leadership in jail for their crimes, because that’s how you take on a violent extremist group and win," he continued. Steyer laid out his vision in five key points— "First, I will go after ICE’s modus operandi: using racial discrimination to detain, arrest, attack, and brutalize Americans," he explained. "I will pass aggressive legislation that builds on current California statutes and outlaws any law enforcement agency from profiling anyone based on their race, ethnicity, language, occupation, or location. We are done letting federal badges serve as a shield for abuse in our state." "Second, I will give the state Attorney General the authority to hold ICE’s leadership accountable for violence. My plan will pursue supervisory liability. This body of law empowers the California justice system to criminally prosecute and imprison not just the ICE agents who are committing these crimes, but the leadership directing them to do so." "Third, I will appoint and fund a special investigative unit and work with the Attorney General who is specifically tasked with enforcing these California laws, including laws related to the conditions at detention facilities. This investigative unit will collect the evidence the Attorney General can use to prosecute offenders and their leadership." "Fourth, I will bring those detained and kidnapped by ICE back home by creating a much larger and stronger immigration legal defense infrastructure in our state – funding for more attorneys, investigators, and accredited representatives, as well as legal aid and law school programs—to assist and help those who have been imprisoned without due process. "And Fifth, I will launch a massive statewide 'Know Your Rights' public education and public awareness campaign. Every Californian, regardless of their immigration status, should know their constitutional and legal rights if you are stopped, detained, or questioned by ICE agents, if you are assembled to protest against ICE, if you are filming ICE agent activities, or if you witness unlawful and illegal actions perpetrated by ICE agents. This is an absolutely brilliant blueprint and every Democratic governor should adopt a similar approach. It's time to bring the fight to ICE! "In a functioning democracy, the Attorney General of the United States would prosecute these cases. Under Trump, the United States is not a fully functioning democracy, exercising all the constitutional, legislative, and judicial checks and balances the founding fathers put in place—but California still is and always will be," wrote Steyer. "Trump has turned ICE into a criminal enterprise, so let’s treat it as such. As governor, I’ll go after ICE the way Eliot Ness and Joe Friday went after the Mob: bring them to justice by using their most basic crimes against them. For the Mob it was racketeering; for ICE it’s racial discrimination." "On my watch, California will protect the most vulnerable and bring to justice those who break the law and brutalize our neighbors. We’ll let ICE know: in California, you obey our laws and respect our residents, or you go to jail," he concluded. What do you think? Would you vote for Tom Steyer? Please ❤️ and share if you support prosecuting ICE agents!

Let us reject the logic of violence and war, and embrace peace founded on love and justice—an unarmed peace, not based on fear, threats or weapons. This peace is disarming, because it is capable of resolving conflicts, opening hearts, and generating trust, empathy, and hope. I strongly reiterate: The world thirsts for #Peace! Enough of war and all the pain it causes through death, destruction, and exile! #ApostolicJourney #Cameroon

I was so close to falling asleep... And then 2 balistic missiles hit us. I would just like to take this moment to say how much I fucking want russia to go to fucking hell. Normal life, without the constant threat of being violently murdered, just seems so far away, barely real.

Yes, he really said that. Yesterday Vice President JD Vance criticized Pope Leo XIV for not knowing enough theology: "I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology ... If you’re going to opine on matters of theology, you’ve got to be careful, you’ve got to make sure it’s anchored in the truth," he said, at a Turning Point conference. One of the many, many, ironies about that statement is that it came in response to Pope Leo's comments about war and peace and, specifically, the concept of "just war," which originated with St. Augustine. As many have already noted, when the Vice President was making his comments, Pope Leo XIV, a member of the Augustinian Order, and twice Prior General of the Augustinians before his election as Pope, was visiting the hometown of St. Augustine, then called "Hippo," now in Annaba, a town in modern-day Algeria. For good measure, Pope Leo XIV, the man critiqued for insufficient theological education, earned not only a master's degree in divinity, but also licentiate and a doctorate in canon law from the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome. JD Vance's recent conversion to Catholicism is beside the point, because many converts are of course not only highly intelligent (and learned in theology) but faithful and energetic Catholics. We rejoice over everyone entering the church. What most of us do not rejoice over, however, is a deadly combination of inaccuracy and hubris. Pace, Vice President Vance, but the current war in Iran is not a just war under Catholic doctrine. You can hear that from church leaders from across the theological spectrum, from Archbishop Timothy Broglio, the head of the military vicariate and former head of the @USCCB, to Cardinal Robert McElroy, Archbishop of Washington who holds doctorates in both theology and political science. You can look all that up online. Suffice to say, the Vice President doesn't seem to understand the tenets of just war. Nor does he seem to understand the fundamental position of the church, which is for peace. "War is always a defeat for humanity," as St. John Paul II said. If that authority isn't enough, then turn to Jesus who said, "Blessed are the peacemakers," not "Blessed are the warmongers." And after the Resurrection, the Risen Christ says to the frightened disciples not "Vengeance is mine" but "Peace be with you." Incidentally, the day before, the Vice President said that the Pope (and the Vatican) should stick to teaching about morality, also seeming to forget that war and peace are profoundly moral issues. For his part, Pope Leo was focused yesterday on his spiritual father, St. Augustine. After what seemed like an emotional visit to Hippo, he celebrated Mass at the Basilica of St. Augustine in Annaba. During his homily he said, "The primary task of pastors as ministers of the Gospel is therefore to bear witness to God before the world with one heart and one soul, not permitting our concerns to lead us astray through fear, nor trends to undermine us through compromise." Amen. Let's all continue to pray for the Holy Father as he works for peace. (Image: Pope Leo XIV prays at the archeological ruins of Hippo, home of St. Augustine, in current-day Algeria. CNS photo).

@BohuslavskaKate JD Vance would be too big a coward to come to Ukraine. He is a man of no character whatsoever. He isn’t fit to speak about Ukraine. He is inhumane and clueless.

Vance says that stopping funding for Ukraine is one of his proudest achievements in this administration. I’m watching this stunningly cruel speech from Ukraine, as Russia continues to kills us every day. Just today, they killed 8-year-old boy in Cherkasy and five people in Dnipro. Dozens more were injured. The military assistance you are so proud of stopping was used to save lives in a war Russia started and continues every day by choice, in a war that only became possible after USA pressured Ukraine into disarming... I do not know if Vance can fully comprehend the scale of the tragedy unfolding here: a brutal, illegal war of extermination by Russia, and the slow abandonment by our allies. There is nothing to be proud of. Absolutely nothing.

Shortly after taking office, Vance used his speech at the Munich Security Conference to scold European allies for their outrageous assaults on free speech principles. But Orban banning political opponents from state media didn’t stop Vance from campaigning for his bff.

⚡ Russia cannot wage war without oil revenue. Congress has the power to change that. ‼️The End Russian Oil Windfalls Act (H.R. 8222) would terminate U.S. licenses that allow transactions involving Russian oil and impose stronger sanctions on Russian energy companies - closing the loopholes that keep Kremlin revenues flowing. Every barrel of Russian oil sold funds the same war that is killing Ukrainian civilians. It is time to act. Urge your Representative to support H.R. 8222 today. 👇 🔗 Support H.R. 8222 - End Russian Oil Windfalls Act: amukr.org/support-hr-822… #StandUpWithUkraine #SupportUkraine #SanctionRussia #RussianWar #RussianWarInUkraine
