Grandfather Mountain in NC from Black Point Parking area to Mile High Bridge to McCrae Peak to Calloway Peak and back with 15 or so ladders next to very close drop offs. We made it back by 6pm. 8hrs hiking 🥾 and 7ish miles with 700ft elevation gain 😊. #optoutside #nature

@Scott_Maxwell I know you asked about "this cycle", but I have done it 2x's. Countywide in @seminolecounty adds to the level of difficulty, but it is a great way to get to know voters and talk about issues. I don't think the parties appreciate it much, tho. They miss out on the extra funds. ;-)

I've always been impressed with candidates who qualify for office using the petition method vs. just paying the filing fee. If you know one (or are one) who's doing so this cycle, let me know here. I'm looking to profile a few.

@albyrd @FLSecofState @CordByrd This is why I voted to eliminate our local @seminolecounty business tax receipts. Aside from the principle, there's a "cost of collection" that should be weighed to determine if the "juice is worth the squeeze".

@FLSecofState @CordByrd Why not eliminate this tax on small businesses? It makes no sense that I have to pay the state $150 every year for the right to operate a small business. Happy to register, but the tax does nothing to help businesses grow and is just another way to take money from my pocket.

It was an honor to recognize our Veteran of the Month AND Santa!! 🎄🇺🇲
Seminole County, FL@seminolecounty

🎖️VETERAN OF THE MONTH: The Seminole County Board of County Commissioners proudly proclaimed United States Navy Petty Officer First Class Richard Kitchen as the December Veteran of the Month. Petty Officer Richard Kitchen served as an Electronic Technician for more than two decades, during which he earned both Submarine and Surface qualifications. During his service, he was an integral member of the testing and evaluation team for the Trident D5 Ballistic Missile program. Petty Officer Kitchen was awarded multiple military distinctions, including the Navy Achievement Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Meritorious Unit Citation, and several others in recognition of his outstanding service. In 1989, Petty Officer Kitchen relocated to Orlando, where his dedication to public service has continued to shine throughout the community. For several years, he has volunteered with local restaurants to organize and distribute toys to more than 50 children each year, helping local families feel valued and supported. For the last decade, he has graciously served as the Mall Santa at the Altamonte Mall and has also appeared as Santa throughout the Southeast. Seminole County is proud to celebrate Petty Officer Richard Kitchen as the December Veteran of the Month and thanks him for his valiant service in protecting our nation’s freedoms.

@presbyterianpew @AdrielTweets We're finishing up a Nicene Creed series now, too. The early church history and political shenanigans make me feel like "everything old is new again". 😂

@ReOpenChris That's remarkable! Who is that coverage with? For a full year or 6 months? Our home is the reverse. Our taxes are $2325/yr and our insurance with USAA is $7440/yr + flood

PERSPECTIVE: We pay $1378 per year in property insurance and $800 for flood insurance for our condo. We pay $4500 PER YEAR IN PROPERTY TAXES! Which bill do you think Floridians need relief more? At least we get something from paying property insurance!

HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS TIP: Hurricane season is officially here, and residents can prepare ahead of time by emptying their old fuel canisters early at the Central Transfer Station's Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) tunnel. Fuel, typically used in generators, has a shelf life of approximately three to six months. The HHW tunnel offers free and safe disposal of fuel, motor oils, and antifreeze. Residents are advised to empty their canisters filled with these fluids to prevent an influx of drop-offs and potential capacity concerns before a storm. ♻️Hours: Monday through Saturday, 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. ♻️ Location: 1950 FL-419, Longwood
