And you still have the ability, no matter how difficult it may seem, to choose to carry on with your life, and spend the one and only existence you will get for all eternity in as loving, fulfilling, and authentic a way as you possibly can.

Update: 107,690 Black people in Louisiana have gone to vote. These numbers are down from 2020. We now have 834,310 Black people who can got vote between now and Saturday. In the last 24 hours 10,000 of you shared the last post. Lets get active by tagging people and directly asking them do they plan to early vote. Text the video and ask them if they will go tomorrow. We can collectively run the numbers up. We live in a time where digital civic engagement is possible if we are strategic. I’m not talking just to talk, I’m telling you we can do something everyday until the last day to vote on November 5th. They win, because we think we can’t do anything. We can. So let’s do something. There are 800,000 Black people in Louisiana remaining to vote. If we can do better we can fight to get funding to win our own statewide races.

I’ve long said that we can learn more about our home by leaving it and looking at it from a distance — and since my student days, I’ve done just that for about three months every year. I see our world as a place filled with love, joy, and good people who share similar needs and concerns. I believe fear is for people who don’t get out much. The flip side of fear is understanding…and we gain understanding by traveling, whether that be a low-budget road trip south or north of the border or a month-long European vacation. Travelers learn that if a just and stable world is the goal, we need not walls but bridges.
