@Fritzandfrieda Apparently, if you have the musical instrument proficiency skill, you are proficient in every instrument. If only that's how it worked irl 😆
And I guess you can also play instruments without having musical proficiency. But if you do, other characters will tell you that you suck

You can play lute, flute, violin, lyre, and drum. Idk why *drum* since you can't play a melody on it. I guess you can play while you sing

Playing my 2nd bg3 run, and were playing origin characters that we wanted to re-spec, so we didn't have appropriate gear when we switched classes
Meta switched to bard, and my partner grabbed a violin she found on the ground and said "take that, It'll be annoying later"
