The cow should be granted the status of the ‘‘national animal’’. The majority of the people in the country not only consider the cow sacred, but also accord it the status of a mother. In such a situation, it is difficult to understand what political compulsion is preventing the government from declaring it the ‘‘national animal’’? The politics of hatred, mob lynching, the killing of innocent people in the name of the cow, and the campaign to malign Muslims must now come to an end. We would, in fact, welcome the decision if the cow were declared the ‘‘national animal’’ and a permanent solution to this issue were found, so that no human life is lost and religion is not exploited for political purposes. What is astonishing is that in some states, beef is openly sold, yet there are neither protests against it nor incidents of mob lynching. However, in areas with a significant Muslim population, blood is shed in the name of the cow. This is not devotion; rather, it is a double standard and a political game. Strong propaganda is being carried out in favor of a Uniform Civil Code on the argument that if the nation is one, then the law should also be one. Yet, the laws regarding animal slaughter are not implemented uniformly across all states of the country. There are many states where beef is openly consumed and no ban exists there. A Union Minister himself admitted in an interview that he eats beef. What is even more surprising is that the Bharatiya Janata Party is in power in many of those states. Even more astonishing is the silence of those who incite mob lynching across the country in the name of the cow and even take human lives. We only want that the cow be granted the status of the ‘‘national animal’’ so that this controversy may be brought to an end forever. Whatever law is enacted for this purpose should be implemented uniformly across all states of the country without discrimination. There should be no distinction in its application, because this alone is the true demand of justice. #CowAsNationalAnimal | #JusticeForAll | #MobLynching | #ArshadMadani

I sometimes wonder whether our smartest people are often trapped in the wrong jobs, not because they lack vision, but because society has built such narrow, conventional pathways for talent (I am being optimistic here and ofc hypocritical) Imagine someone who cracks AIIMS Rank 1 in UG, PG & SS. Someone who has consistently topped academics, understands systems under pressure & has spent years being tested by one of the toughest skewed and unfair selection processes in the country. Now imagine that person sitting in the think tank of NTA, alongside IITians who crack high-level quant & systems interviews. That is where this calibre of talent should be used. Instead, many of them either become corporate machinery or are kept away from public systems because the money is poor, the bureaucracy is exhausting, and the “sarkari ethics” are often performative rather than functional. The tragedy is not that India lacks talent. The tragedy is that we have extraordinary talent, but we rarely place it where the country actually needs it. With the right people, the right systems, and basic accountability, this country has more than enough intellectual depth to conduct any examination on this planet with integrity.

A pediatrician friend from a top multispeciality hospital in Delhi just told me something that says a lot about how outdated habits survive in Indian medicine A very senior OBGYN consultant was reportedly clamping the cord within 10 seconds of delivery! In all her deliveries! All! In a country where infant anemia is already such a massive public health problem, ignoring delayed cord clamping is not a harmless “style of practice” It is basic physiology being sacrificed at the cost of seniority🤦🏻‍♂️

Indian TV media is so compromised & pathetic that we find out about 100+ deaths due to rain & storms in UP from the Russian President. In no other supposed “democracy” is the media so entirely controlled by the ruling party. It’s beyond shameful.

One #KeralaStory from the recent election results that communalists should note: a Muslim majority constituency, Thavanur, elected a Christian, VS Joy; a Hindu majority constituency, Kalamassery, elected a Muslim. VE Abdul Gafoor; and a Christian majority constituency, Kochi, elected a Muslim, Muhammed Shiyas. Despite some influence from the national trends in favour of identity politics, Kerala remains a model of communal harmony, a state where people see human beings first and caste or religion later @incindia @inckerala

“He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster.” If Muslims in this country consolidate politically on communal basis, how is BJP & RSS’s communal politics wrong then? This country was never built to draw communal lines, neither politically nor socially. Our fight is to bring back plurality, inclusivity and dignified collective existence.

A student asked: "If sore throats are caused by a virus or bacteria, how come sleeping under the fan or drinking cold water gives it?" I am surprised most people are not aware of the answer to this.

It took me 35 years to learn this: If you’re half-in, you’re actually all-out. Even 90% in gets you nowhere. There’s something magical in that last little bit. It's where you unlock new levels to the game. Simply because so few have the courage to do it.
