@zach_a_howard I think you probably just pick it up in that scenario and see what happens, as you said

@andlankell If they do end up with one of the elite F prospects, what do you think they do with Kuminga’s option? I’d still pick it up and try to trade him for something. Not sure the cap space will be worth it unless they think they can get Hartenstein in free agency.

This might be a hedge on lotto outcomes. If you land a top 4 pick, you’re potentially in position for an elite F prospect, and probably less incentive to make a long term gamble on JK. But if you don’t, you could take a moderate risk on him and hope either him or Zac work out.
Fullcourtpass@Fullcourtpass

There mutual interest between the Hawks and Jonathan Kuminga on declining his 2026-27 team option valued at $24.3 million and agreeing to a long-term contract, per @JakeLFischer

@zach_a_howard @Jonesy2x4 @bloghawk @brothertona Yeah that's why I think you get a player back in the deal. Hawks also got KP in the deal by proxy last year. Would be nice to get Sharpe there, not sure how BRK values him.

@andlankell @Jonesy2x4 @bloghawk @brothertona Mann had 3/45m guaranteed left while Kispert only has 2/27m guaranteed going into this offseason. 2/27 probably isn’t long enough or enough money for Onsi to give up a first like he did with Mann imo

It's long past time to excise Corey Kispert from the rotation in my humble opinion

@Cparkernba Agree on a long timeframe, it doesn’t favor small Gs. But from a draft perspective are you not happy with something approaching a Trae Young outcome if you draft Acuff? Certainly that would well exceed median mid lottery outcomes and IMO it would even make a strong case for him.

@andlankell Thus, explaining how incredibly small the margin of error is for guys in this position

The most under discussed and important aspect of the Acuff discourse is that Trae just got traded for a bag of chips and nobody even wants Ja. The offensive threshold you need to surpass in order to provide playoff value is ABSURDLY high for defensive 0s at the guard position.

@Jonesy2x4 Interesting how the defense hasn't translated as hoped to this point but the offense has been better than expected. It works that way sometimes.

I think small guard skepticism is clearly warranted but possibly becoming too consensus. Trae and Ja are cautionary tales, but there’s also Mitchell and Brunson who continue to power top teams. The market might let one of these slip thru by being too cautious IMO.

@john__colburn Oh yeah that’s typically the case with 5 man lineup data - it’s heavily influenced by shooting luck and things like that.

@andlankell Another massive part of this is just opponents shooting like 27% from 3 in a small sample.

Dejounte coming back to revive a dead Pelicans team and subsequently make that Pels pick worse for the Hawks is pretty tilting.

Hi friends. No easy way to say this: my girlfriend has lymphoma, a cancer that may kill her. It’s a recurrence of the cancer she battled in 2024. I’ve started a gofundme to help cover her extensive medical bills, likely to last a few years. I’ll put the link and more info below

Dyson's steady decline in TO% has been his key offensive development this season. TO% by month: November: 20% Dec: 14.3% Jan: 11.3% Feb: 10.8% Hasn't turned it over in the two games in March.

Dyson Daniels started a game on a PG and ended on Giannis. He took over as the starting PG midseason and leads a good offense while never turning the ball over. He has one of the biggest on/off splits in the NBA. How he continues to prove his immense worth @peachtreehoops 👇🏾

@gametime__jay Nah, the Spurs have the rights to swap picks with ATL via the Dejounte trade. But the Hawks can swap the SAS pick for the CLE pick via the Hunter trade. They also have the pick from NO/MIL. So they have 2 firsts this year.

@andlankell Again, its a swap of the most favorable. Our pick will be more favorable of the two, so it wont convert. Reason no one is talking about it because we won’t convert it

Hawks offseason trade idea: Kispert + Cavs 1st to BRK for Day’Ron Sharpe ATL gets off Kispert’s $ and acquires a good C on a cheap TO to pair with Okongwu. BRK adds yet another 1st to the quiver.

@gametime__jay It's a complicated process, but they get the Cavs pick this year. They have two 1sts in 2026.

From Hawks perspective I think I'm confident with Dyson as the full time PG moving forward. Doesn't mean you can't pair him with a traditional PG but you gotta feel good about this level of impact, especially with zero 3PT production (that'll improve).

BPM inflation is an interesting angle in draft analysis. There's been 10 high major freshmen with >12 BPM in Bart history, and there's 3 in just this class (and 4 in last 2 years). Expanding to >11 BPM, there's 5 guys of the 14 total in this class alone.
