3/3 and sometimes on my Facebook author page and always in my personal Facebook neighborhood's Buy Nothing group. Funny how different social channels make sense for different times in our lives. Anyway, thought I would share this on my Twitter birthday.

2/3 all the time. That weeklong break turned into a year and half. I still check Twitter a couple of times a week, but it's just not the place that makes sense for me to hang out anymore. I mostly hang out on Instagram now (@andrealucado)

1/3 Twitter tells me today is my 12 year Twitter anniversary?! I got on when I got my first job, 12 years ago, in publishing and all my colleagues were on it and it was all the rage. When the pandemic started, I had to take a break from Twitter. I couldn't handle all the news...

@MeaghanEPorter I love J the V! The telenovela vibe and the magical realism were a different change of pace at first but I grew to love it. I think it's totally worth a full binge.

@devi_writes perhaps a podcast episode about how our opinions live on on the internet forever and our old ones about sexual purity (even though you can see I had started my work here) can be especially cringey?

Anyone know who the web editor is at @RELEVANT is these days? They've posted some of my old articles and are passing them off as new content. I wrote this in 2014. And would not have written it today. I'd like to get in touch with them if anyone knows. Thanks!

@RELEVANT I wrote this article in 2014 and it was published on the website then. Can you please clarify that? I would not have written this article today, 7 years later. Especially my last point about sexual purity.

@FLTBob The cultural devaluing of single people in the church has been tragic to experience.

I saw this on Twitter a few days ago and thought "I'd like to see the same comparison when the young woman is 65. That Gucci bag won't love you back. The cultural devaluing of marriage and family in my lifetime has been tragic to observe.

@MelissaMoore77 Yeah, I used to think I didn’t need to or shouldn’t block people and then I started taking about purity culture and the prolife movement and now I block when I want.

Some of you precious souls are like, why would you ever, ever need to block someone made in God’s image? “Are you trying to suppress good-faith Christian disagreement?” Perhaps we are having different experiences.

@sheridanvoysey Yes! I do this on the weekends and it has really reduced my tendency to mindlessly scroll. I’ve also been mostly afraid of social media during 2020 so that helps too :)

Friends, I deleted Twitter from my phone a week ago and have felt lighter ever since, removing the temptation to mindlessly scroll, filling my soul up with noise and angst. I'm limiting access to desktop and iPad, my 'work' tools. Try it and see how different you feel.
