The Braves had the Profar money and more prospect capital than they've had as a contender in long time. They've had an obvious need to bolster the rotation since November. Thought for sure this was the year they would make a big splash. But instead, they've left plenty of room to second guess.

Alex Anthopoulos effectively sitting out this trade deadline is inexcusable. The Braves’ rotation lacks a second option for a playoff series. The moves that got made were on the fringes. This is really a disappointing day as a fan.

The Braves have the third-best record in the National League. But they don’t have enough starting pitching to win multiple playoff rounds. It’s Chris Sale and a lot of questions after that. Winning the NL East is cool, but this is a disappointing deadline.

The Braves must acquire someone today that can start Game 2 of a playoff series and give you the feeling of “we’re going to win because of this guy starting.” Right now those internal options are uninspiring. AA needs to get us a needle-mover before the day ends.

@Feinsand Ok this is nothing more than acquiring more MLB-type SP depth. Same as having Bailey Falter included in the Lane Thomas trade Molina came up twice as an emergency bullpen arm. His subtraction doesn’t impact the Braves at all Full amount of bullets remain in AA’s possession

The Braves are acquiring RHP Tyler Mahle from the Giants for RHP Anthony Molina, per source. @ByRobertMurray was on it.

Skubal to LAD Gausman to CHC Means the Braves should be shifting focus to Casey Mize or either of the Angels’ arms (Reid Detmers, Jose Soriano) before the deadline If any of the three are acquired, I’m a happy man

JR Ritchie’s best start was his first one. It has been a lot of inconsistent command since. I don’t trust him as anything more than a back-end starter and if a team asked for him before the deadline as a “headliner,” the Braves should not hesitate to include him. Just my opinion.

Trade news: The Atlanta Braves are acquiring outfielder Lane Thomas and left-hander Bailey Falter from the Kansas City Royals, sources tell ESPN.

I am not totally sure I know the long-term plan for Didier Fuentes, but what I do know is that he has an electric right arm and is on a list of fewer than five people in the Braves’ organization that I’d deem “off-limits” over the next week before the trade deadline.

@SamBlum3 Awesome story - I went to Citi Field last month and bought a random ticket that was in “Frank’s section” & got to witness his behavior in-person. It’s authentic. I also watched dozens ask for pictures, which he said yes to every single one, me (even in my Braves’ stuff) included.
